JBE K-5 Christmas Concert & Matinee
JBE Fine Arts Showcase
DVD's will be available for sale again this year. Forms went home in Friday Folders and will be available the night of.
It's almost time! Our JBE Christmas Concert is coming up on Wednesday, December 11th. The concert will be held at Jonesburg Elementary in our gym. ALL grade levels, K-5 will be performing at the following times on the same night. K-1st will be singing at 6:00, 2nd-3rd will be singing at 6:45, and 4th-5th will be singing at 7:30. We will also be offering a matinee performance at the following times. K-1st will be singing at 1:00, 2nd-3rd will be singing at 1:45, and 4th-5th will be singing at 2:30. Doors will open at 12:45 and 5:45 respectively for the first performance.
There will be an Art Gallery in the secondary hallway, giving you a visual treat as you stroll down to the photo backdrop area. Just as in a real gallery the student artists have the option to sell their work (only at the evening performances)! The artists will get to experience the real-world connection of selling pieces in a gallery, with the gallery and the student both profiting from the sale (all proceeds will go towards the purchase of things to enhance the art curriculum). We welcome you to view their work and support our budding artists with purchases of art that catches your eye! We are excited to share our students’ talents with you and look forward to seeing you at your student's performance.
Students are asked to dress in holiday shirts or dress nicely.
Preschool Performance
Join us for the Preschool performance at 3:00 on December 18th in the JBE Cafeteria.

Check your Friday Folders for information on ordering a yo-yo from the NED Mindset Mission. Orders are due to JBE December 18th.

Recess Weather
The guidelines for indoor recess are when outside temperatures are 20 degrees or less or the outside temperature when combined with the wind chill factor of 20 degrees or less. If the heat index is 100 degrees or above, students will remain inside during recess.
Inclement Weather Message from Dr. Bottoms
Parents, the following annual message about winter weather was also emailed out:
As winter approaches, the Montgomery County School District wants to inform our parents and staff about what takes place when winter weather does arrive. The Montgomery County School District watches the weather very closely in winter. On nights when the weather is forecasted to cause any issues that might impact the safety of our students arriving at school, we are assessing the situation by 4:30 a.m. If we can determine school closings the night before, we will let you know about it when the decision is made. Please note that school closures will not always take place the night before.
Snow or Ice Events
Closing or releasing school early due to weather is a decision that is not made lightly. There are many implications, so the district works to ensure we are making the best decision possible based on the information we have. The start of school may be closed if conditions are considered to be dangerous. Here is how we make the decision:
• We review the predicted weather patterns through various weather websites and news outlets.
• We review information from the National Weather Service.
• We look closely at the timing of the snow/ice, how much is predicted, how it will impact getting students to/from school, and what type of wind conditions may occur.
• We work closely with our bus service when making this decision. The district Superintendent and bus service owner drive roads in our district to review their conditions.
• We are constantly conversing with other superintendents in neighboring school districts to compare reports.
How You'll Be Notified.
• We will also post the closing on our District’s Facebook page
• We will use our electronic messaging system (Apptegy/Thrillshare) to call families about the change in the school schedule. This may also come as a text message.
• Local media (T.V. and Radio Stations) will also be contacted
Morning Drop Off Procedures
Recently, there has been an uptick in drivers stopping in the morning drop-off line and getting out to walk their student to the door, come talk to office staff, etc. If you need to get out of your car, please park and walk up to ensure that the line can continue to move smoothly. If your student tends to take a little longer to unload, please pull up past the powercat so the line will continue to flow safely and smoothly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with our efforts to maintain the safety of all riders.
Please pay your students meal balance before break

Attendance is Important
Thank You for helping us meet our goal the first three years of the month of keeping our building attendance above 95%. As a building we are trying to help students understand the importance of their attendance and have emphasized it in their Data Folders as well as on light up boards in the front window and in the hallway outside the office! Thank you for helping get your student to school healthy and ready to learn!
August Attendance - 96.73%
September Attendance - 96.2%
October Attendance - 95.10%
November Attendance - 94.97%
Please make sure that you call in (833-662-6228 press 5 then press 1) prior to 8:30 if your child is going to be absent so that we can record the reason before we begin making contact. If communication is not received in regard to student absences a few things may happen.
- If your student is arriving after 8am, please come into the office and sign them in. Please be aware that students arrive late are recorded as Late in our student information system and that time counts against their daily attendance.
- You will receive an automated message letting you know your student is absent. (We have a new system and are still working out the kinks. Please call us immediately if you believe the message is inaccurate.)
- You may receive a personal call from our office staff.
- You may receive a visit from Deputy Ault, our SRO, or Kylee Waite, our MCR2 Social Worker.
- You will receive our 3-day, 5-day and 8-day attendance letters regardless of calling in. These letters are board policy and are sent to all student families when they hit the 3, 5, & 8 day threshold.
- As a building we are striving to be higher than a 95% average EACH MONTH.

JBE Mood Meter
Throughout the year, we will be implementing the JBE Mood Meter as a way for students to help identify their emotion/what they are feeling. There are many studies that show the importance of being able to name how you are feeling. It is our goal to help our students find words to express how they are feeling and to enforce that it is ok to have whatever emotion they have, but also that we are still responsible for our actions and our words. If they mention they are feeling a certain color, this could be what they are communicating to you. Check out the image below. We will support this goal through modeling at morning assembly, throughout the day in class and in our counseling classes. If you have questions, please reach out.
Clothes & Shoes recycling Bin at JBE
We have partnered with USAgain to collect clothes and shoes. This company will pay us 2 cents for every pound collected and will plant a tree (somewhere, not on our property) for every full bin. The bins are located on the southwest corner of our building. We will start spreading the word to the community soon and hope it will help the earth and raise a bit of money for our donation account.
