Lowell's Newsletter
December 6, 2024
Dear Lowell School Families,
As December rolls in, we find ourselves in one of the most exciting and bustling times of the year! We've got a lot to look forward to, and I want to share some of the highlights with you.
Our Annual Winter Concert is just around the corner and is truly a beloved tradition here at Lowell Elementary. We hope you can join us in the gym on Friday, December 13th, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. You’ll be treated to performances by our talented 4th and 5th-grade string orchestras, bands, and choruses. It’s a wonderful opportunity to see the hard work and dedication our students have put into their music programs, and it’s sure to be a delightful start to your day.
Following the concert, we'll dive into Spirit Week, running from December 16th to 20th. One of the highlights is Pajama Day on December 19th, a favorite among the students. It's a fun, cozy day where everyone gets to come to school in their comfiest attire!
In addition to these school-wide activities, there are numerous events being organized at the class or grade level. For more details, please refer to the newsletters provided by your child's grade level. They’ll have all the specific information you need to ensure you don’t miss out on any of the festivities.
We’re looking forward to celebrating this joyful month with you. Please join us in embracing the spirit of the season through these engaging and delightful events.
With gratitude!

Notes From Nurse Kristen
Cold, flu and other respiratory illnesses are on the rise! Please be sure to keep your child home if they have any of the following:
- A fever of 100⁰F (37.78⁰C) or greater in the past 24 hours (student must be home for a full 24 hours without any fever reducing medication before returning to school)
- A communicable disease diagnosis

Please remember to send your student to school with appropriate clothing. It has begun getting cold (and we have seen our first snowfall). As a reminder we do want to be able to bring the students outside everyday. Please send your students wearing jackets, hats, mittens and gloves. If it is snowing, boots and snow pants as well. before returning to school)

Highlights
The Cafeteria is our highlight of the week! A new game has developed of "Is This Yours?" in which once a week Mrs. Rufo holds up items that are in the lost and found and students cheer when an item has been claimed. The record so far for claimed clothing items in one lunch block is 13!
Also started in the cafeteria is Fun Fridays. Grades 1 and 2 have Storybook Fridays (today was the story The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats). Grade 5 has a student created list of different fun activities they will be rotating through and today was Karaoke. And 3rd and 4th graders are having music Fridays (students give Mrs. Rufo suggestions and songs that make it through her appropriate for school screening make it to the list to get played during lunch).
