The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Celebrations and Recognitions | watch

Hadley Junior High students were honored for auditioning and performing at the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 9 Festival. Simon Ellis (Euphonium), Joleen Jayme (Violin), Chloe Kim (Viola), and Emilie Scarleski (Violin) participated in the ILMEA District 9 Festival on Saturday, November 11, at West Aurora High School.

Hadley Jr. High School 8th Grader Alex Koehler (French Horn) was honored for being chosen to perform in the 20th Annual Lifetime of Music Initiative Concert with the Northshore Concert Band on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Alex is one of 40 middle school musicians selected for this prestigious performance.

FY 2023 Audit Presentation | watch

A representative from Lauterbach and Amen, LLP presented the annual financial audit of the district. Board members asked questions and engaged in conversation about the audit results.

Student Attribute Presentation: Benjamin Franklin Elementary School | watch

Principal Jeff Burke and Assistant Principal Jamie Linder presented about belonging. They shared examples of how they incorporate a deeper feeling of belonging among the students. They explained how they also work with families on behavior expectations.
In addition, Mr. Burke and Ms. Linder presented data related to academic growth and School Improvement Plan (SIP) goals.

2023 HumaneX Report | watch

Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. David Bruno introduced the district’s culture and climate work with HumaneX. Dr. Bruno and Representative Carolyn Young-Slonek from HumaneX presented District 41 data and the follow up that will occur throughout the school year.

Newcomer Students Update | watch

Director of Language Programs Juan Suarez shared information about a growing community of newcomer families and students. Newcomer students refer to K-12 students who are born outside of the United States and have been in the U.S. for three years or less and are still learning English.

Update on the Mental Health Grant | watch

Dr. Kaczkowski introduced one of the District’s mental health experts, Brenda Huber, and presented information about supports being provided outside of the school day through a federal grant awarded to District 41 this school year. Dr. Kaczkowski shared information about a new mental health partnership with ReferralGPS and Ms. Huber explained the program in more detail.

President Bruno explained the process for hiring a superintendent. Board members commented on the search and the selection of Dr. Jeffrey McHugh. Dr. Bruno announced that Dr. McHugh will be present and available to engage with the community at the Board Committee of the Whole meeting on January 8, 2024.
