Viking News - The Week of 8/26/2024

The Week of February 24th, 2025
Happy Friday, RMHS Students and Families,
Wow! This week was full of excitement at RMHS. 🥳 A huge thank you to Ms. Russo and the RHS Student Council for hosting a fantastic Spirit Week event for the high school community. The energy was contagious and created a sense of fun, and belonging that transcended groups and grade levels. The middle/high school was fortunate to have a nationally known guest speaker, Dave McGillivary, come in and speak to our students and staff 6-12 this past Tuesday. His inspirational message about his journey was powerful as he encouraged us all to set goals, embrace failure, and seek to accomplish big dreams. Thank you to the Class of 2027 and the Rockport PTO for sponsoring this event for all of us.
We honored and celebrated our seniors at two ceremonies this past week. Congratulations to the boys' and girls' basketball and the cheerleading teams for an amazing season. We are so proud of your collective accomplishments and excited to see what the future will bring you as you look to the next chapter of life. Josiah Whitley was celebrated and recognized as an 1,000 point scorer at the culminating ceremony. Congratulations to Josiah on this amazing accomplishment! 🏀
When we return from the vacation, students in grades 8 - 11 will begin the Rockport High School course selection process for the 2025-2026 school year. Please review the timeline and resources below for your planning purposes. There is a PDF link to the 2025-2026 Program of Studies available in the 'Course Selection' section of this newsletter. I encourage you to peruse the catalog over the coming week to see what's available. Teachers and guidance counselors will begin the formal course selection process on Monday, March 3rd. Please save the date for the parent evening scheduled for Thursday, March 6th at 7pm in the Auditorium.
I hope you take the time to step away and enjoy the February vacation. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday, February 24th.

RHS Graduation – Friday, May 30, 2025 at 5 pmWhy Attendance Matters
Being in school and on time are extremely important to your child's success. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they stay engaged in their learning, build strong relationships, and develop solid study habits. Please help us by making sure your child gets to school on time each day. The cafeteria and library are open at 7:00 am and free breakfast is available in the cafeteria for all students. The main hallways and classrooms open at 7:25 am.
School Safety Reminder
The school campus is closed to the public when school is in session and after 10:00pm nightly. This includes the use of the tennis courts, track, playgrounds, athletic fields and all other parts of the campus. This does not include families and community members attending school events in our schools or on our school grounds. We appreciate the community's understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the safety of RPS students and staff.
Winter/Spring 2025 Half Day Schedule
School Breakfast
Breakfast is an important way to start a productive day. We encourage all students to arrive early enough to get breakfast before school begins if possible. For those students not able to get to school early on any given day, we will provide a set time in the morning to be sure breakfast is accessible to all. Breakfast and lunch continue to be free for students this year.
