News from Winfield Elementary: April 19, 2024
From the Principals, Mrs. Alonzo & Mrs. Hall
Dear Winfield Families,
This week we enjoyed a wonderful music performance with our Kindergarten and Fourth Grade students. Thank you to Mr. Drakulich for his work and preparation. Thank you to the hundreds of guests who joined us. We hope you were as delighted as we were!
Our Fourth Grade students also began their ILEARN testing. They have shown so much perseverance and effort each day. They will complete their testing early next week, and Fifth Grade will begin with the ELA portion on Monday. Thank you for sending your students to school well-rested and with a healthy breakfast in their stomach. Third Grade will start their testing the week of April 29th. These assessments help us measure what students have learned this year and identify future learning opportunities. Thank you for your support!
If you (or a neighbor, friend, colleague) has a child who should be attending kindergarten in the fall, and they are not yet registered--please call us ASAP! We will be scheduling makeup appointments for those who missed Kindergarten Screening in the coming week. Be sure that your student is accounted for as we create class rosters for the Class of 2037! Visit our registration page for more info: https://www.cps.k12.in.us/parent-information/enrollmentregistration/kindergarten.

Notice of Outstanding Fee Balances
Please check your student's PowerSchool account to see if there are any outstanding fees for Chromebook repairs, Chromebook charger replacement, or lost library books.
Please note that all fees are due and payable by the end of the school year, or they will be turned over to Kinum, Inc. for collections. Please contact me at 219-663-2287 with any questions regarding your child's outstanding fees.
From the Clinic, Nurse Becky
Please send an extra change of clothing for your child to keep in their locker. Accidents happen on the playground, at lunch or in the classroom that sometimes requires a change of clothing. I have a very limited amount of clothing to lend out in all sizes, so it is super helpful if your child has something of their own here at school. Thanks!

Imaginarium and Learn Through Play classes are for children ages 0-5. We also offer a class for parents and caregivers called the Caregiver Cafe which provides information about developmental milestones and resources. If your child is already attending Bulldog Buddies, you can also be a part of the Birth to School program. All Birth to School classes and events are free. For additional information, please check out our website at www.cps.k12.in.us/bts. If you have specific questions, please contact our Birth to School Coordinator Jamie Kalk at jkalk@cps.k12.in.us.
