Flex Learning Expectations

Teachers will have their activity posted by 8:30am on flex learning days (storm days).

Teachers will post on the following platforms:

· Google Classroom

Teachers will be available during the instructional day to answer questions/assist/etc. via:

· Email

· Google classroom

· Google Meets if possible/necessary

Flex Learning Activities

· Expectation is the activity is related/relevant to current curriculum/lesson plans.

· A “product” of activity either that day or shortly thereafter is appropriate. (Journal/summary/reflection/assignment/etc.)

How Flex Learning days differ from previous Distance Learning models. (Covid)

· Asynchronous.

· Short term

· Lack of direct instruction.

o Considerations - Students may have other responsibilities (caring for siblings, assisting family, weather related hardship) that may affect performance.

Non-Instructional Staff Duties/Directions

Clerical – Work remotely attending to tasks not needing physical location of school

Counselors – Work remotely on tasks you have access to including collaboration on upcoming lessons/groups – reach out to students/teachers as necessary.

Paraprofessionals – Will submit a Flex-Learning time off request

Welcome to the early start to the 2024-2025 school year. We are excited to have students back in the buildings as activities start up soon. Some important information is attached to help you navigate the pre-school events going on. Each section has a button to link you to the information.

The activities calendar and registration links are provided below. Step one for activities registration is to have a physical on file. If you are having other issues registering for activities, please email Mr. Hegg at jhegg@detlakes.k12.mn.us or Stefanie Eidenschink at steidenschink@detlakes.k12.mn.us.

A reminder that school lunch/breakfast is free this year. Each student may have one breakfast and lunch meal at no charge. Additional items or a la carte items will require a food service balance to pay for them. Links to put money into your student lunch account is below.

The Educational Benefits Application information is also below and includes an attached application for benefits. Benefits may include reduced activities fees, Title program funding, additional staff and technology support, and maintenance of student programming. We encourage you to complete this application

To register your student for busing, please follow the link below. Transportation/busing request must be completed each year!
