Algebra 1
Week 8
Unit 1: Equations and Inequalities Vocabulary
Unit 2: Properties of Functions
Unit 3: Linear Functions
In this unit, students will calculate slope and rate of change from various representations and real-world contexts. Students will then write and graph linear equations in various forms including slope-intercept form, point-slope form and standard form. Students will apply their understanding of linear functions to linear inequalities and their solution sets on a coordinate plane.
Monday (September 23rd)
Slope-Intercept Form
- We will identify the slope and y-intercept of an equation, write an equation in slope-intercept form and graph a linear equation in slope-intercept from.
- Write an equation in slope-intercept form after identifying the slope and y-intercept, then graph the equation and explain how the slope and y-intercept affect the graph's shape and position.
- How do we identify the slope and y-intercept from a linear equation? What does it mean for an equation to be in slope-intercept form, and why is this form useful? How can we graph a linear equation using only its slope and y-intercept? How do changes in the slope and y-intercept affect the appearance and position of a graph?
