Note from Emergency Preparation on Reunification
We want to inform you that at our school we have practiced and gone over what a reunification process would look like and how we would operate it here at Cottage Lake Elementary. The district has guidelines as well for a reunification and you can find this information at this link https://www.nsd.org/our-district/who-we-are/safety-security/reunification-process
In case of a reunification Cottage Lake Elementary will be in direct contact with our safety and security team (some safety and security could already be on campus) and the communication team at the district office. There will be communication to all parents/guardians from our communication department from the district office. Please adhere to their communication.
Cottage Lake will have a specific line-up for parents on the south sidewalk at the gate of the front entrance to our parking lot. All parents need to come to the front of the school to move through the reunification process. We will have greeters to greet you, as well as, an information card that will need to be filled out to start the process of picking your child/ren up in the event of a reunification. Parents/Guardians/Emergency contacts must have a piece of ID to pick up a child. Keep in mind that the adults picking up student need to be the parent/guardian on file or they need to be adults listed as emergency contacts. It is important to keep your emergency contact list updated. You can go log into ParentVUE to update your emergency contact list. Please keep in mind we have a certain process in place to keep everyone safe and accounted for. These process steps will need to be followed before the release of students here on campus.
Please know that we take this practice seriously to ensure a smooth and safe reunification in the event that we would have to have a situation that required reunification.
Thank you,
Your emergency prep coordinator
Northshore's Social-Emotional survey (Panorama survey)
Northshore School District believes that for all students to be successful, they must feel a sense of belonging and personal connection to our school communities. We are committed to providing our students the services and support needed to achieve this goal. Students’ perception and feedback on how they experience well-being, safety and relationships, and school climate and culture is vitally important to ensuring supportive school environments for each and every Northshore student.
Cottage Lake students in grades K-5 will have the opportunity in the fall and spring to take the survey at school. The survey's will be administered online to students during specific survey windows.
Our survey windows are as follows:
- October 14-25, 2024
- March 17-28, 2024

Volunteer Trainings for NEW to Cottage Lake families/adults
Attention NEW to Cottage Lake families,
At Cottage Lake, we hold Volunteer Trainings for all adults working at our school. These are similar to the district volunteer video/training, but specific to Cottage Lake. I ask that each adult who volunteers at Cottage Lake to participate in the training once while I am the Principal. During this training, I will note specifics about supporting students at Cottage Lake and volunteering in general. Parents do not need to sign-up or register for a training. Each training will run approximately 30 minutes in length.
The Volunteer Trainings that have been scheduled so far this school year are:
- October 10th @ 3:15 PM
- October 14th @ 10:00 AM
- October 25th @ 12:00 PM
Parents do not need to attend multiple trainings; you need to attend one if you are new to Cottage Lake.

Volunteers needed! Cross Country at CLE Tuesday, Oct 8, 5-6:00 p.m.
Hello all! Cottage Lake Elementary is hosting next week's Cross Country meet! The event is on Tuesday, Oct 8 from 5-6:00 p.m. We are looking for at least 10 volunteers to help us with small jobs like cheering along the course, and directing kids toward the finish line. We're scoring the event so we also need a little help with showing kids which bucket to put their finishing ticket in. Jobs are straightforward and the event is SO fun! If you're able to lend your time please send a quick note to Coach Suzanne: suzanne.lynner@gmail.com
This is for all parents to participate, not just those with runners in the meet. It's also a great opportunity to involve younger kiddos who have an interest in running once they get to 3-5 grades!
