Genius Hour 💡
No Genius Hour is this Friday, September 27th, due to our assembly :).
Volunteers 🤩
Reminder
If you are visiting for an event or lunch you do not need to be an approved volunteer with the district. If you are volunteering to cover a lunch duty or helping out in a classroom or at a school event you must be an approved volunteer. This is not a new policy, however, the district is using a new system. See info below:
LISD has moved the Volunteer Management System from EZVolunteer to Raptor. When you arrive at River Ridge to volunteer, you will need to bring your valid driver’s license and check in at the front office. If you have not been signed in AS A VOLUNTEER this school year, you will need to allow time for the system to complete your volunteer registration when you check in.
If you are new to Leander ISD, complete the volunteer application and submit all required information to run a background check. The background check process usually takes 2-3 business days.
Once approved, the volunteer will receive an email containing their login credentials and account information. If credentials were not received via email, check SPAM for donotreply@raptortech.com.
If you are a returning volunteer, log in to the Raptor Volunteer Portal. (If credentials were not received via email, check SPAM for donotreply@raptortech.com.) When clicking the link, be sure the portal has the Leander ISD logo at the top.
If your email address or newly created password is not recognized and you are not able to log in, please contact our Raptor Support Team at support@raptortech.com.
Volunteers MUST update their profile from “all buildings” to the specific campus(es) they wish to serve.
Volunteer accounts are active for an entire year (12 months) from the date of approval. A notification will be sent to the approved volunteer one month before expiration with instructions on how to renew or remove their volunteer account for the upcoming year.
If you have any questions, please see the Leander ISD Volunteer Website or contact the district volunteer coordinator at volunteer@leanderisd.org.
Procedures to Follow When Leaving Early
We will call your child down to the office when you arrive on campus to pick up.
Because class time is important, appointments should be scheduled, if possible, at times when the student will not miss instructional time. However, if a student should need to leave early for an appointment, you will need to bring your valid driver’s license and check your student out at the front office. Make sure you allow time for the front office to call your student from class and for your student to gather their belongings and walk to the front office. No need to call and give us a heads up as we will not be able to call your student down until you check them out in the office.

Non- working mechanical items needed for 5th grade
Non- working mechanical items needed for 5th grade
If you have any old mechanical equipment that we can take apart and see how it works, please send it in! We will be needing these in Sept.
Items needed for "Take-Apart"
If you have an old, non-functioning or no-longer-used machine with moving mechanical parts, we would love to take it off your hands for a 5th grade QUEST take-apart project. Those especially of interest are DVD players, VHS players, cassette tape players, boom boxes, old sewing machines, old desk-top computers, or anything with speakers or motors or moving mechanical parts but no glass. We will be reverse-engineering to see how they work, and then creating new devices with the old parts. You will not get your machine back.
Drop-off will begin Sept. 3 - you can leave items in the front office vestibule in the labeled wagons.
If you would like to join us to lend a (much-appreciated) pair of hands and/or some mechanical expertise, we would welcome that!
Please email Myra.Harold@leanderisd.org or Keni.Renner@leanderisd.org if you are interested.
Time 8:00am-8:45am M/T/W/Th; Date TBD
💡 Destination Imagination 💡
Destination Imagination (DI) is an International Creative Problem-Solving organization where students hone their imagination skills, learn team-work, practice time management, and solve whacky challenges in unique ways. Teams of 5-7 students work together for several months to solve a STEAM challenge then bring their solution to the spring regional competition. Research shows that students participating in the Destination Imagination Challenge Experience outperform their peers in creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. River Ridge sponsors several DI teams each year which are forming now. For more information email keni.renner@leanderisd.org or send in your DI application to her today! Application deadline is Sept 27th
Note: Spots on teams are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Exception: A Team Manager’s child is guaranteed a spot.
