Senior Project Continues Legacy by Paying Forward to Teacher
Columbus East Senior Seth Chandler understands how hard cancer can be on a family. In 2011, Seth's mother was diagnosed with cancer. While receiving treatment in 2013, Seth's mother was approached by a nurse who asked about her children. That nurse introduced the Chandler family to Inheritance of Hope, a charity organization founded to help families fighting cancer. Later that year, Seth and his family were sent on a retreat to Disney World by Inheritance of Hope. During the retreat, they were able to make memories as a family and receive support to work through his mother's cancer diagnosis.
Since attending an Inheritance of Hope retreat, the Chandler family has tried to help other families by paying this retreat forward. Both of his older sisters, Tayler and McKenna, raised funds for a family to receive the same opportunity that they received in 2013. This year, Seth has carried on their family's legacy by raising funds for his senior project to help send Social Studies Teacher Tony Pottorff and family on an Inheritance of Hope retreat. Check out this video to watch how Seth surprised Mr. Pottorff.
