It's #BEATsouth week in Gopher land! The annual #BEATsouth game (aka the Prairie Bowl Classic) is a tradition that goes back many decades here in Grand Prairie.
Join us early at the #BEATsouth game as we honor one of our favorite alums, Vergil Ortiz Jr. (GPHS c/o 2016), in a special pregame presentation starting at 6:30pm! Vergil is excited to attend the game and cheer on our Gopher Varsity Football team! Let's pack the GOPHER stands with him on October 18th!
#BIGBLUESHOUTOUT - Mariachi Azul Advancing to Area Competition
#BigBlueShoutOut to these student Mariachi Azul musicians who competed at the Pre-Area qualifications. The following students advanced and will compete in Area competition on October 26th.
- Senior, Edwardo Banuelos, won 1st Chair in the whole region for Trumpet.
- Sophomore, Juan Reyna, won Runner Up in the whole region for Trumpet.
#BIGBLUESHOUTOUT - GPHS Masonry Heading to SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500
#BigBlueShoutOut to these two talented GPHS Masonry students. Using experience, speed, and accuracy they've learned in the GPHS CTE Masonry program, seniors, Cody McDonald and Daniel Barrios earned their way into this year's SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500!
Widely referred to as the “Road to Las Vegas,” the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 Regional Series tests the speed, skill, and stamina of bricklayers across North America who have what it takes to compete in the World Championship. The Regional Series competitions are held to determine which mason can build the highest 26-foot-long brick wall, with the best craftsmanship, in only 60-minutes.
