Ms. Paloma Ibarra serves as our campus College Bound Advisor. She is available to assist students and parents with the college admissions, financial aid, military enlistment and career readiness process. Please stop by and visit her in Rm#1202 or contact her by phone at 210-438-6570 ext. 37043.
It is important to inform senior parents that the State of Texas has made the submission of a financial aid application a graduation requirement beginning with the Class of 2022, so we will be readily available to ensure that we support our families through this very important process. Our goal is to ensure that all of our students are ready to begin their post-secondary plans immediately after their high school graduation.
We invite our students and their families to take full advantage of the assistance available as you begin to prepare for life after high school.

Grade Level Parent Meetings
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the TJHS Counseling Team hosted their annual 11th & 12th Grade Parent Night. Our 9th & 10th grade parents were provided with the same opportunity to access of this valuable information during our 9th & 10th grade Parent Night which took place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
During these events, participants rotated to several sessions which provided important information about our campus support systems. The following sessions were made available to our participants:

- SEL (Social Emotional Learning) & Parent Resources - Presenters: Campus Social Worker, Communities in Schools, and Campus FACE Specialist

School Counselors' Beginning of Year "Howdy" Presentation
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, our school counselors hosted their Beginning of Year "Howdy" presentation. This presentation was held during Mascot Time via TEAMS. To ensure that all of our students accessed the presentation, our Mascot Time teachers were asked to login to a meeting link via TEAMS and project the presentation onto the smart boards in their classrooms. The information presented included graduation requirements and support systems for being successful in high school. The presentation link is provided below, and we invite you to review it.

Please help us ensure that your child is in school, attending all classes every day! If a student earns more than 4 unexcused absences in any class during a semester, they will be denied credit for the course - even if they passed it. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child's counselor. The following are the ways students can make up the attendance seat time-
- Before or After School Tutoring with Teachers
- Huddle with the Head of School monthly parent meetings - Parent & Student MUST Attend in-person
- IB Family Engagement Nights - Promoted via Social Media and Parent Messenger by FACE Specialists
- Saturday School - when offered (parents and students will receive information about these opportunities when they are available)
- Campus Beautification Events - when offered (parents and students will receive information about these opportunities when they are available)

Individual Advisement Conferences
Our TJHS School Counselors will begin their individual advisement conferences with students beginning with our seniors on September 30, 2024. These conferences will consist of sharing updated transcripts, a review of current grades and attendance, and post-secondary planning. All conferences with seniors will take place through their Government, Economics or IB DP History of the Americas course. We ask for parent support by asking that you ask your child to share this information with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's school counselor.
