Hello SGCS families,

Whew! We made it through the first day with our 1st through 6th graders! We look forward to welcoming Kinders and PreK students next week!

We have a few new staff members this year! Please welcome Elisabeth Hauser, our new school counselor! Elisabeth began her teaching career here at Sayeik and has returned to the island and we are so grateful. Ms. Krista Jacoby is on the 5th/6th grade team this year, she was our long term sub in PE last year so she's a familiar face to many.

We are working on updating our staff directory. I'll share it once it is current so you can see all the adults that work hard every day to support your students!

We're excited to announce that Singalong will continue this year beginning August 30th. Alumni staff Travis, Jeffrey, Rhonda, and Deb will continue to lead/support our community singing with the help of staff Marc Mintz and Krista Jaboby.

In an effort to make Singalong less dependent on a few people, families are invited to join the fun with their musical gifts to play, sing, or lead as desired! If you are interested in joining in the fun and helping to make this a sustainable practice of our community, please reach out to Deb at dspencerak@gmail.com for more information.

Staff and students like to wear School Spirit Gear on Fridays. You can buy SGCS gear locally at The Alaskan Wearhouse at Mendenhall Mall. You can preorder here and pick up at the store!

We are continuing Early Release Mondays this year. The school day ends at 2:00 every Monday. This time allows our staff to work togehter in Professional Learning Communities.
