Muckleshoot Tribal School Families:

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer break. It is my honor to welcome you back to a new school year.

Muckleshoot Tribal School staff are prepared to make this upcoming year a fantastic experience for your child with a clear focus on student learning.

We are excited to welcome our new Elementary Principal- Krista Yi and our new Secondary Principal- Rick Brownell to Muckleshoot Tribal School.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!

Important Dates:

• September 3, 2024- First Day of School for 1st-12th grade

• September 9, 2024 - First Day for Kindergartners

Student drivers please see security to apply for a student parking pass.

All students must have a parking pass to drive on campus.

Forms can be picked up at the security gate office or high school office.

Return completed forms to Security along with a copy the student's driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance. Once a student's application has been processed students will be issued a parking pass and given instructions on where to park.

MTS is a One Way campus, please enter through gate and once at the Y, please turn left and continue in that direction all the way around the campus.

Visitors - All visitors must check into the offices. Elementary, Middle and High school all have offices, please check into one of those offices.

Closed Campus- MTS is a closed campus. Once students are on campus, they will remain on campus until the end of the school day. If your student needs to leave early for an appointment please go to their office and sign them out for the day. If they return after their appointment please bring in note and the student will get a tardy slip to return to class.

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year. I am Krista Yi, the Elementary Principal and I am very excited for the new school year to start. I have been in the field of education for 25 years. Most of my teaching experience was at the elementary level and I have 8 years of administration experience at the elementary level. I am so humbled to have been picked to be your elementary principal and look forward to serving the Muckleshoot community.

First day of school for Kinders is September 9th. WaKIDS conferences will be held with Kinder parents September 3rd - 6th. These conferences are for parents, students, and teachers to get to know information and to share information important to supporting the child. Teachers will be contacting parents to set up an appropriate time to meet.

We are excited to be partnering with Right at School. Right at School will provide a comprehensive enrichment curriculum to students engaged. The program is offered Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 5:30 and Fridays from 12:30 to 3:30. For more information you can visit Right at Schools website https://www.rightatschool.com

We are so excited to continue our partnership with No Place for Hate. We are making the commitment to fight bullying at MTS so all kids feel welcome and loved!!

In other news: We had a marvelous time hosting Mariners camp. The weather was cool enough to play all morning and warm enough to make the Mariner Moose happy!

I hope that you all are having a wonderful summer. I’m Rick Brownell and I am the new Secondary Principal. As the new Secondary Principal, I am honored to have the opportunity to lead alongside a great staff, at a school full of rich cultural traditions, that strives for excellence in education.

If you have any transportation changes or questions please contact me at 253-261-1329.

Notify the school nurse if your student has:

Asthma, Life-threatening Allergies, Diabetes, Seizures or any other health concerns which may require medications or an emergency health care plan.

Please check with your healthcare provider to make sure your student is up-to-date on immunizations and vaccinations.

Medications at school - If your student needs medication or treatments while at school, a medication form must be completed by the parent/guardian and a physician order must accompany the medication. Medication orders and health care plans require annual review and renewal.

Keep your student home if they have:

Fever of 100.4℉ or higher

Test positive for flu or COVID-19

Experience vomiting or diarrhea in the past 12 hours

Cold symptoms, such as runny nose, congestion, sore throat coughing or sneezing (unless allergy related)

Red, inflamed, swollen eyes with discharge or crusting (not related to allergies)

Rash of unknown origin, oozing sores or wounds that you can’t cover or contain

Untreated head lice
