The Call
Sept 30-Oct. 4, 2024
Dear Colin Powell Academy Families,
Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Back-to-School Nights! Your presence and engagement are crucial in building a strong partnership to support your child's learning and success. Our next Back-to-School Night is for 8th grade and will take place on October 9 at 6:00 pm. We encourage all 8th-grade families to attend.
During our Back-to-School Nights, we reviewed what your child will be learning throughout the year. See below what our students are learning in math this year. In the upcoming weeks, I will be sharing content syllabi, which outline what your child is expected to learn each quarter. If you have any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or an administrator.
Warm Regards,
Ms. Lattimore, Principal

Car Rider Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
As a reminder, please refrain from using the bus entrance and exit located on Swan Creek Road. This area is designated specifically for bus traffic to ensure the safety and efficiency of our dismissal procedures. Using this entrance for parent drop-off or pick-up can create congestion and increase the risk of accidents.
Your cooperation in following our designated traffic patterns is essential in maintaining a safe environment for all students, staff, and families.

Respect School Property
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am reaching out to ask for your support in speaking with your child about the importance of respecting school property. Recently, we have encountered instances of vandalism, which is not tolerated at our school. It’s essential that all students understand the value of maintaining a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
We hope that you will reinforce this message at home and support any consequences that are put in place for students who do not follow school rules and procedures. Working together, we can ensure that our school remains a place where everyone feels proud to learn and grow.
Thank you for your partnership

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We understand that our car rider dismissal line can be lengthy. To help expedite the process, we kindly ask that all families display their car number tag clearly. Your child will be escorted to your vehicle promptly. Please note that parking along Fort Washington Road and showing your tag at the front door is not permitted.
To ensure our dismissal process runs smoothly, we need your consistent support.
For the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 4, 2024
- Car riders will be dismissed at 3:00 PM.
- Walkers will be dismissed at 3:10 PM.
Parents of walkers, please meet your child at the steps alongside Fort Washington Road. If a parent is not present for PreK-2 students, we will escort your child back to the main office.
We also ask that you do not call your child and instruct them to walk off school grounds to meet you. This is a significant safety concern and disrupts our dismissal procedures.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
