Jackson Reed High School Course Selection - Due 3/28
As promotion gets closer, now is the time for our 8th grade students to start planning for their transition to high school. How exciting! Staff from Jackson Reed High School visited our students this week and held a virtual meeting with families to share information about the course selection process. Students should have brought home a form to select their courses.
All students are asked to discuss the attached course selection form with their families and bring the completed, signed form to their advisory teacher by March 28th. Please reach out to the Jackson Reed team or our wonderful 8th grade counselor, Ms. Travers, with any questions about this process.
Note: even if your student is considering other high school options, we ask all students to go through this process to learn about the options available to them in high school. Submitting this form helps the Jackson Reed team plan for next year, but does not lock your student in to attending Jackson Reed.
World Language Trip Make-Up Work
Traveling abroad for school is an exciting opportunity, and the Deal team is honored to have so many 8th graders taking this adventure. While we consider these trips an important part of our students’ education and the absences will be excused, it is important that students keep up with the learning they will miss while they are out of the country.
To support students and families, every student traveling on an international trip will be given a personalized make-up work list based on their individual schedule. These lists will be distributed by homeroom teachers on Monday and families are encouraged to ask their students about their list. Students will have one week after the return of their trip to complete their assignments without penalty.
All content-related questions should be directed to the teacher. Unless otherwise noted, all assignments will be visible in Canvas. If your student loses their list, team teachers will have access to a digital version they can share with families.
Promotion Celebrations - Save the Date
As we look forward to our 8th graders' next big step, please save the following dates for promotion-related celebrations. Additional details, including logistics and costs, will be shared in the coming weeks.

Hi Woolloomooloo Families!
I hope everyone had a great extended weekend and that Student Led Conferences went well for those that signed up. Please continue to talk to your scholars about their grade and what is working for them to be successful as Term 3 is coming to a close soon! These conversations are important to have with your scholar and it reiterates our strong standards that we hold them up to here on Woolloomooloo.
Please also check your scholars ASPEN on tardies...our 8th graders are enjoying the warm weather and are taking their time to get to class. Please let them know the importance on getting to class on time and how this correlates to the real world. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hello all!
This week:
We completed newton’s first law of motion, free-body diagrams, balance and unbalance forces. Also, we started Newton’s 2nd law of motion and created a relationship between force, mass and acceleration.
Next week:
We will continue to work on Newton’s second law of motion by creating a relationship between force, mass and acceleration.
Furthermore, we will begin Newton’s third law of motion. Students will be able to analyze how Newton’s 3rd law of motion explains the physics behind many common activities and useful objects. Homework will be due on Wednesday.
