December 6, 2024
FROM OUR PRINCIPAL, MS. FOUNDAS
Dear Happy Hollow Families,
Dear Happy Hollow Families,
A friendly reminder to send your child with all the necessary winter gear now that the winter weather has arrived. It is incredibly helpful to have your child(ren)’s gear labeled and to send in an extra set of clothes in case they get wet while playing in the snow.
Please also remember to prioritize safety in the parking lots when driving or walking toward the building. Use crosswalks and avoid walking across the parking lot or the rolling drop-off area. Additionally, during morning rolling drop-off, please drive forward all the way past the main entrance doors. Stopping earlier causes traffic to back up into the road, so this step is essential for keeping things moving smoothly and safely.
At Happy Hollow, we take pride in being a caring and inclusive community. In our cafeteria, we display flags representing all the families and cultures of our students. If you notice that your family’s flag is not represented, please let me know, and we will be happy to address it.
Additionally, we are fortunate to have Deb Pellerin providing a wealth of literature resources for our community through the Bookstop Buzz. This week, we highlight You Hold Me Up by Monique Gray Smith, an author of Cree, Lakota, and Scottish ancestry. This beautiful and simple book is dedicated to “our youngest citizens to help them hold and respect one another, their human dignity, who they are, and their contributions to the wellness of the world.” With its reminders about the importance of our words and how we can support one another, the book invites students to consider the question: How do you hold each other up? You can check out this book from our Community Bookstop, our library, or listen to the author’s read-aloud linked in this week's Bookstop Buzz.
Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Nicolette Foundas, Happy Hollow Principal
