Sunrise Family Updates
8.26.24
Hi Sunrise Families!
I hope this message finds you well. The district has an important message about breakfast that I wanted to make sure to get out to you right away as I know this affects many of us. Thank you for reading, in addition to a couple more updates.
Finally, you may want to begin that slow transition to an earlier bedtime for an earlier wake up time for your kiddos. Have a great weekend and see you soon!
Sincerely,
Katie Smullen
Sunrise Principal
Important School Breakfast Update
This year a school breakfast will cost $2.00 and a school lunch will cost $3.25 for students in Sawyer or Sunrise and $3.40 for students in Middle or High School.
For the past few years school breakfast has been free for all students. Unfortunately, this opportunity is not available to us this year. Those who qualify will continue to receive free or reduced pricing for school meals. Please reference this link for information on applying for free or reduced meals within our district: https://www.sturbay.k12.wi.us/departments/free-and-reduced-meal-information.cfm.
Our food service department is hopeful one or more of our schools will qualify to be enrolled in a program to help subsidize meal costs in the future.
Girls Basketball Update - 4th and 5th Graders
If you are interested in signing up for girls basketball, please download the Heja app and put in code: QH-298054. The first day of practice is set for September 9th. Jena Burlo and Kristin Wautier are coaching. They would love another person interested in coaching to help specifically with 4th grade. Please let me know if you are interested and I will connect you to the right people!
If I am loading the dishwasher or folding laundry, this is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to. Dr. Becky gives solid parenting advice with a dose of humor and humility. Parenting is not for the weak and she has given me countless good ideas as we all try to figure this out. Click on the picture or title to see her list of topics and podcast info.
You may feel pressure from your child "all of my friends have a Smartphone". I will assure you they do not. Please read about other ways to stay connected with your child and consider signing the pledge that you will wait to get your child a Smartphone until the end of 8th grade. It is a nationwide movement called Wait Until 8th to "let our kids be kids a little bit longer".
