Safety Update
In light of the tragic school shooting in Georgia last week, we wanted to reshare some information about our safety plans.
Safety preparedness: Safety is our top priority for all students and staff in our schools. We make every effort to be prepared for every possible type of emergency by regularly conducting safety drills and collaborating with our school resource officers and the Upper Arlington Police Division. Collaboration with families and local safety officials are critically important, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships in place in our community. You can learn more about our safety preparedness and prevention efforts at www.uaschools.org/safety.
Reporting concerns: We also reinforce with all students and staff members the importance of reporting any suspicious or concerning activity. We encourage all students, staff members and family members to share their concerns either by phone or email. Students and family members can also file a report through our STAY SAFE, SPEAK UP! reporting system. In addition to the link in this email, you can also find the SPEAK UP! system linked to our website and available in ClassLink on all student iPads. Reports filed through this system can be made anonymously. If your safety concern requires immediate attention from law enforcement, please call 911.
Literacy Night
We are excited to offer Literacy Night again this year. At this event caregivers will gain a better understanding of what literacy looks like in their child's classroom and they will receive tips and suggestions for things they can do at home to help support their literacy learner. The presenters will be the literacy liaisons, principals, and reading support staff (specialists, OG, etc.).
We hope to see you at this event on Wednesday, September 25th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Tremont cafeteria.
Dogs on the Kindergarten Playground
We'd like to remind parents that dogs should not be on our kindergarten playground during drop off or pick up. We love seeing everyone's cute pets, but we ask if they come to school with you that you remain outside the white fence.
Thank you!
Multilingual Family Night
Come and learn more about the program Upper Arlington offers for Multilingual students! We will discuss a variety of topics, and provide resources related to school and the Upper Arlington community. In addition, we hope this event provides an opportunity for families to connect.
If you will be bringing your child, we will have quiet activities for them to do during the event.

School Property Lines
Recently we have received several questions about people soliciting or passing out materials near the school. Please remember that the school property line on the south side of the school (the main office/parking lot side) runs very close to the building. Most of the land to the south of the school is public property and not subject to school rules and policies regarding advertisements, distribution of materials and audio/visual recording.
Service Learning-Clorox Wipes
As part of our school wide service learning project this year, we are collecting empty Clorox wipes containers. They will help us collect and contain all of the pop tabs that we hope to gather this school year. As a school we will be partnering again with the Ronald McDonald House of central Ohio. If you have any at home that you could donate, it would greatly benefit our students and the project.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
Tremont PTO
New! Walk + Roll Thursdays Starts September 19th!
Walk + Roll is a Tremont tradition promoting walking and biking safely to school. Every student that rides a bike, scoots or walks to school on Thursdays from September 19th through October 24th (*skipping Oct. 3rd due to Fall Fest*) will receive a hole punch in a punch card. Please ensure your students’ name and teacher name are written on the card! We will have two parent volunteers at each of the three entrances on those Thursday mornings. For every hole punch, the PTO will donate $.05 to World Bicycle Relief!
At the conclusion of the fall session, students should turn in their punch cards to the volunteers! We will count up the total number of hole punches for donation purposes. Additionally, the class with the most hole punches will earn an extra recess!
Interested in being one of those volunteers? Click on this SignUp Genius! Any further questions, please contact Kristen Pastor at kcpastor@gmail.com.
New! Cafeteria Volunteers Needed!

From the District
Start with Hello Week
One way we are celebrating our District commitment to supporting culture and climate is by participating in Start with Hello. Start with Hello is a week dedicated to making social connections by engaging in conversation with one another to create a sense of belonging among young people. Start with Hello gives us an opportunity to celebrate the importance of inclusive connections. In our school community, students will be given STAR WITH HELLO CHALLENGES by Mrs. Prati and Mrs. Karst on GRT, all of which provide an opportunity to connect and show an appreciation for each other. We hope you enjoy this celebration of Start with Hello in our school community.
