Reminders and Updates from Dr. Bonneau
I hope everyone enjoys their Winter Break! Please remember that our faculty and staff are taking time with their families, as well. If you send an email, please know they will respond in January when we all return.
Reminders:
Changes for Second Semester:
- Advisory: Beginning in January, all students will have an Advisory class period. It will show as 9th block, but it will actually be from 10:35-10:55. This may be a teacher the student already has, but it may not be. Attendance will be take in Advisory. All students are required to attend Advisory. Students with afternoon Ben Barber will only attend Advisory on their NON-Ben Barber days. Students with morning Ben Barber should be IN advisory by 10:35 or they are tardy.
- Morning Entry: We are having more and more students not removing the items from their bags before going through Evolv. This causes the search lines to back up and makes them late to class. Beginning in January, students need to arrive earlier to ensure they have time to get into the building in time for class. We need them to remove the items from their bags that may flag the Evolv machine. No passes will be written for students that come in right before the tardy bell and are late to class.
- Lockers: Historically, students have not wanted to have lockers issued to them on campus. With the changes in the building entry procedures, I believe more students may benefit from a locker on campus. If your student would like a locker for the 2nd semester, please complete THIS FORM.
Backpack Cleanout: Students, it's time for a backpack cleanout! Please take time to cleanout your backpack and remove anything you don't NEED for the school day. (Including old food and candy wrappers.)
Let's CELEBRATE! If you have had an experience with someone at Legacy and want to give them a "shout out", please send me their name and a brief explanation. We would love to make someone's day! My email address is stephaniebonneau@misdmail.org.
Questions? Please reach out to me at stephaniebonneau@misdmail.org and I will get your question to the right person.

“Become a Hero of the Hallways!”
Calling all dads and positive male role models! Legacy High School needs YOU to be the eyes, ears, and heart of our school for just one day a month or even a week. Did you know that 1 in 4 children in the U.S. grow up without a father figure at home? Kids without strong male role models are more likely to struggle academically, face behavioral issues, and are statistically more likely to drop out of school. Additionally, 85% of youth in prison grew up in a fatherless home, and 80% of school shooters come from similar backgrounds.
By volunteering a half or full day of your time, you can make a profound difference in the lives of our students. If just five of us commit to the same day each week, we could fill this calendar completely! Whether you can give time once a week or once a month, your presence can help create a positive and supportive environment for our students.
For any questions, please call or text Chad Lovell at 817.422.6122. Let’s step up and be the change our kids need! To sign up, please go to the following link

We are incredibly proud of our students and their sponsors, Leland Mallet and Rachel Dearinger!
The nation’s top scholastic yearbooks were recognized today by the National Scholastic Press Association, which announced 59 finalists in its annual Pacemaker competition.
“The Pacemaker is the association’s preeminent award,” Executive Director Laura Widmer said. “NSPA is honored to recognize the best of the best.” (click the link below to read the full article).
Pacemaker finalists will be honored and will receive plaques during a special recognition ceremony on Friday, April 25, at the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in Seattle.
Teen Leadership classes recognize campus heroes
At the beginning of the semester, Mr. Williams helped his Teen Leadership classes identify that we have 3 Unsung Hero groups that impact our campus in a major way. Those being our Custodians, Cafeteria Workers, and Bus Drivers. Over the past week, each of his classes recognized one of those groups. Each group was extremely appreciative.

MISD Parent Hub for Social Emotional Learning
Social and Emotional Learning in MISD is Relational Practices. Relational Practices assist in the ability to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Along with our mission to support students, empower teachers, and collaborate with administrators, we want to partner with parents to meet the needs of your children at home. The purpose of this site is to provide resources and support as you navigate through the journey of raising kids in the 2020s. Click here to access the MISD Parent Hub for Social Emotional Learning.
As part of Vision 2030, MISD is helping students become life, college and career ready through our student scorecards. Ask your student to log into Edugence and see what they have been working on!
