Dust Devil Weekly

Once again this school year we will be focused on improving school wide attendance at JMMS! Each week we will report out our daily attendance rates. Our goal is to be above 96% each day...we can do it!

Monday 9/9: 94.32%

Tuesday 9/10: 94.32%

Wednesday 9/11: 95.31%

Thursday 9/12: 95.06%

Friday 9/13: 91.85 %

At our last Leadership morning 6th grade won the grade level with the highest attendance rate for the past two weeks! And the following students were awarded Perfect Attendance Recognition:

-Students and staff celebrating the first full SPIRIT WEEK of the YEAR!

-SPORTS DAY, WEAR YELLOW TO SUPPORT CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS DAY, PATRIOTIC DAY, WESTERN DAY, AND SAFARI DAY!!

-Ms. Zarick's math group practicing multiplication and division with a round of bingo!

-JMMS teachers competing in STACK ATTACK at our Leadership Assembly! Students cheered on their favorite teams!

-Mr. Cortes passing on the CHAMPIONSHIP BELT to Mr. Walker! Congratulations, Mr. Walker for being chosen the JMMS Champion for the next 2 weeks!!!

- Mr. Clavijo's class working on activities about the Explorers!

- Mrs. Johnson's classes dramatically presenting skits in her Theatre classes!

- 6th Grade celebrating their first Attendance Reward with a double lunch period!!

We will have our first Lunch on the Lawn of the 2024-2025 school year on Friday, September 20. We invite all families to join their students for lunch and a visit during their lunch period. Our 7th and 8th graders eat lunch during our first lunch period from 11:35am to 12:10pm. Our 6th graders eat during our second lunch period from 12:13pm to 12:48pm. Please bring a lunch, some chairs or a blanket if you'd like to sit on the quad and join us!

Additionally, at our first Lunch on the Lawn we will have the Kona Ice Truck! This will be a welcome treat with the hot days we have been having! Our students love to get the shaved ice and ice cream treats that the Kona Ice truck brings. Please bring or send cash with your student if they want to purchase something from the Kona Ice truck!

As we begin the year, it is important to remind your student that they need to have their Chromebook each day charged and in their backpack. While we know that we want our middle schoolers to work on becoming more independent, we also know that it takes time. So, as they work to develop these skills, please help them by giving them reminders nightly to charge their Chromebooks and then to put it in their backpack in the morning. Thanks for your continued support!

Thank you to all that have already joined PTA and to those that are patiently waiting for our Membership Drive to officially begin! Here is an update...our bank account has been opened and we are waiting for our Venmo account to be linked and then we will be ready to go! So we are hoping by next week's S'more to have all of our ducks in a row and for the Dust Devil Membership Drive to be officially underway!!
