Claypit Hill News and More
October 29, 2024
Hello Claypit Hill Caregivers,
We hope you and your children are enjoying the gorgeous fall weather we’ve been experiencing and have been able to enjoy the outdoors. As the end of the month draws to a close, We’d like to remind our community that Claypit Hill chooses to NOT observe Halloween in school. We are a big, beautiful, diverse community where many of our students’ religious beliefs and learning profiles do not align well with Halloween. Because we are an inclusive school and we truly value good attendance we choose fun activities that are not Halloween themed.
We are happy to share that, in cooperation with our Claypit PTO, we have arranged for The Amazing Nano Brothers Juggling Show to perform on October 31st. This is a FUN juggling/science act that is in residence at the Museum of Science. Click HERE to learn more about this show. We are thankful to the PTO for their continued support of programming that is educational and fun!
Thank you for everything you do in your homes to support learning. November conferences are in full swing. The time you take to meet with our educators is invaluable. Our teachers work hard to communicate progress in a way that is concrete and caregiver friendly. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has authored “Family Guides” that outline the learning standards at each grade level. These clear guides help caregivers understand what students will know and be able to do at the end of each grade. The guides even include topics you can discuss with your child’s teacher. We are sharing a LINK to DESE’s Family Guides HERE. Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese, we hope you’ll find these guides helpful.
For those who will celebrate Halloween, we wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday!
Sincerely,
Marie, Kate, and Naomi
Lost and Found
The lost and found is full! Please have your student stop by to look for items. All unlabeled items will be donated after school on Friday, November 1.
Free Little Library
Did you know that there is a Little Free Library at Claypit Hill dedicated to former teacher, Robbin Rossi? It’s located right at the front of the school at the edge of the garden fence. Feel free to take a book and leave a book, or more than one! If you have any donations that won’t fit in the library, please contact Ms. Moquin at jacqueline_moquin@waylandps.org to arrange a drop off.
Gift Your Child
We all agree that one of the best parts of our school is our incredible teachers and staff!
By donating to Gift Your Child, you support your PTO in providing meals, treats, and other tokens of appreciation to our amazing staff throughout the year. Help support our staff appreciation efforts to recognize our teachers for their hard work in making Claypit Hill such an amazing place to learn.
Support our PTO and our staff today!
Claypit Hill Cultural Enrichment
We are excited to have the Amazing Nano Brothers Juggling Show come to Claypit Hill on October 31st! The Amazing Nano Brothers, a resident program of the Museum of Science, presents a comedy show all about the mysteries of matter - including atoms, molecules, and nanotechnology. Join brothers Dan and Joel as they juggle everything from potted plants to tennis rackets, sometimes from atop seven foot unicycles. Who knew physics could be this fun? We hope your child enjoys this program provided through Wayland PTO Cultural Enrichment!
