ST PAUL'S PRIMARY SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER - TERM 4 WEEK 8 2024
PRAYER
Away in a Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And take us to heaven to live with Thee there.
From The Principal
Dear Families
This is our last newsletter for 2024.
The Annual Community Meeting (ACM) was held on Thursday 21st November. It was wonderful to have this gathering to celebrate the achievements of this year. Our heartfelt appreciation was expressed to our committee members from the School Advisory Council and the P&F Association. Their voluntary work is highly valued, as is their focus on building positive community and advocating for the very best for our students.
In summary from the evening;
I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Carla Chatzopolous – the School Advisory Council Chair. I thank her for her guidance and expertise. Carla has generously given four years to the Advisory Council, two of those being the Advisory Chair, and has decided to end her time in this role.
We thank Carla for her expertise and for always putting the children of the school first in all decision making.
I thank each member of the School Advisory Council for their commitment and support both professionally and personally throughout the year.
I would like to recognise the School Advisory Council of 2024 and all the Council Members:
- • Mrs Carla Chatzopolous - Advisory Council Chairperson
- • Ms Melinda Whelan - Deputy Chair
- • Mr Tony Ye - Treasurer
- • Fr Mariusz Gresch - Parish Priest
- • Mr Garrett Smith – Council Member
- • Mr Chris Perera – Secretary
- • Mr Ivan Hoe -Council Member
- • Mr Junior Soliano-P&F Representative
- • Mr Mark Tindale – Parish Representative
We also thank our very busy P&F, who have provided many exciting opportunities for families across the year.
The Executive Team 2024 comprising of:
- Mr Junior Soliano President
- Mrs Jessica Abbott Vice President
- Mr Brad Geatches Treasurer
We especially thank Mr Junior Soliano who has been the President of the P&F for the past two years and has represented the P&F on the School Advisory Council for the same amount of time. Junior has organised and coordinated many of the community events, as well as supporting myself, and the school staff. Thank you, Junior, for your support and commitment to the school community.
We would like to thank and recognise Mr Brad Geatches who has been instrumental in his work as P&F Treasurer this year, particularly as the P&F Committee moved to a positive affiliation as an association with CEWA. This is Brad’s last year at St. Paul’s as his daughter moves into High School, thank you, Brad for your commitment to our cause and for all your hard work.
Thank you and appreciation also goes out to Jess Abbott who is often at every event behind the scenes organising catering, setting up events and sending communications. Jess has been a wonderful Deputy Chair and another great support for the school.
Thank you to all the Parent Class Representatives who have been a strong liaison between classroom teachers and parents this year communicating, planning and organising many and varied events for our children and families. You collectively add positive value to the life of our school. Thank you.
The active involvement, dedicated commitment, and strong support of both these parent representative bodies ensures that our students have access to high-quality resources. Your extraordinary efforts and the additional time you all devote to St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School are exceptional and deeply valued.
Farewell
To the families who are departing this year, we extend our best wishes for the future and express our gratitude for being part of our St. Paul’s family. We hope that your lives continue to be blessed.
As we conclude the year, we bid farewell to our Year Six students as they prepare to embark on the next phase of their education at various secondary schools. These young leaders have been an exceptional cohort, always eager to lend a hand and significantly contributing to the functioning of our school. We are incredibly proud of the fine individuals they have become. We wish them every success in their future endeavours and want them to know that they will always be welcome at St. Paul’s.

Pre Kindy & Kindy Orientation
We hosted a wonderful parent information session on Wednesday 20th November for our families entering Pre Kindy & Kindy in 2025. The presentation challenged parents around the importance of play and encouraged them to participate in hands on activities with amazing provocations. Our Community Nurses and Therapy Focus Specialists also joined us and shared important information with the group. Thank you to Mrs Piccioni and Ms Scagliarini for all their care and work in this area. If you were unable to attend please contact your child's teacher to collect your information pack.
Volunteers Morning Tea
Our morning tea was small in number but big in spirit! Thank you to those parents who were able to join us for a cuppa and a chat. To all our amazing parents who have managed to help us out in some way this year, we extend a HUGE thank you!
Student Orientation
2025 PP-Year 6 classes took part in a student orientation afternoon on Tuesday 26th November. The students met their teachers and visited the classrooms for some fun activities. We also welcomed new students to St Paul's during this time.

Administration and non teaching staff work equally as hard in their roles to ensure the smooth operations of the school .They have worked to capacity this year and each and every person is to be commended on their professionalism and their care of the students and school. I wish each and every one of them a well deserved rest over the summer break.
Please keep an eye on the school calendar and your Seesaw messages from teachers, as there are many events coming up. We look forward to you sharing in these with us.
On behalf of all our St. Paul’s Primary School staff, I wish you and your families an abundance of joy this Christmas. May this be a time to find rest and peace, with the gentleness that comes with the celebration of the birth of Jesus, and the fresh beginnings of the New Year.
Best Wishes
Nicola
