PRAYER
A Prayer in Spring
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
- Robert Frost
A Note from Mrs. Longden
Easter brings us the signs of spring. At Holy Trinity we are anxious to get out to explore our beautiful yards this spring. As a Catholic school, we plan for learning to take place within God’s creations, especially outdoors. Many outdoor activities can include making connections from the academics we learn within the classroom to how those things apply to the world around us.
Outdoor learning helps us take a deeper look at our environment made by God such as grass, trees, and small bugs to the objects made by man like the shape of each block in the church, the measurements needing math skills, how our community is formed both past and present, and so much more. We pray for nice weather to be able to explore the outdoors more.
We are very lucky at Holy Trinity to have the beautiful outdoors to cherish. Many times at recess, students are seen praying to Mary in the beautiful space between the church and school with the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary doing prayer, meditation, or simply relaxing. It is also a great place for a lesson in English or literature.
Next week is School Staff Appreciation Week. Our school staff has worked harder than they ever have before since March 2020, when the COVID pandemic first hit our world. I know that our Home and School Group will be providing some treats for the teachers this week. I highly encourage you to individually recognize the staff people who have worked with your family this year – that ranges from not only teachers but also the aides, cooks, custodians, bus drivers, support staff, pastor, seminarian, and all who make our school operate.
Our staff is strong, but we could not be strong without your support, help, and prayers! We truly appreciate all of you who have given us the kind word at just the right time, those who send an occasional note of appreciation, those who have been so grateful to us for even the small things, for those who pray for our school, for those who help financially, for those who work at our fundraising events, for those who volunteer, for those who help children with homework, for just being a great parent/grandparent/or special person in the life of our kids, for our parish members who connect with the school, and for so much more. Our staff is so thankful for all of you!
Maybe we should simply call this Appreciation Week and all of us can appreciate each other for the gifts God has blessed us with.
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden
SOCIAL FEST- CLASS PROJECTS
Class Projects:
Class projects this year will be a basket provided by each class.
We are looking for one parent from each class to help with the organizing and execution of this auction item. You would be in charge of coming up with the idea and asking other class parents for items or support for the basket.
Each class basket will have a unique theme. The plan is for the entire class to help solicit the items needed for the basket. Please see how you can help.
We are hoping these themed baskets will be a BIG HIT in our Auction...these baskets can range from a night on the town for Mom and Dad, to a family trip to Virginia Beach, and a Family Game Night basket for everyone to enjoy, plus much, much more! We are asking that all parents participate in some way to support your class basket. Parents can solicit donations for the basket, purchase gift cards or vouchers for the basket, or donate money that will go toward the purchase of items needed in the basket. Questions? Have an idea for a donation for your class basket?
If you are interested in helping with your child's class, please reach out to Mrs. Longden for more information.
Attention 8th Grade Parents
Hello:
I hope this finds you all doing well and that we will have some real spring weather in the near future.
We are going to be hosting an evening event for Students and Parents interested in our fall KHS sport offerings to come and get the information they need regarding athletic registration, forms, fees, physicals, code meetings, and the like. We will also be having break out sessions with coaches from the various teams, so you can receive more specific information regarding summer workouts and opportunities. We are doing that at 6:30PM on Wednesday, May 4 – starting in the KHS Theatre.
I have reached out to our KMS and KHS coaches as well as our local youth sport organizations about helping facilitate this night when it comes to practices, so students and parents can attend.
Who: ALL potential KHS student-athletes for the fall of 2022 and their parents/guardians.
What: Informational meetings with KHS athletic administration and KHS coaches.
Where: KHS Theatre
When: Wednesday, May 4 – 6:30PM (will run until about 8:00PM)
Why: To give kids a leg up on the summer and the registration info, etc. is shared so everyone can hit the ground running when the seasons begin in August.
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on May 4!
Sincerely,
Jason Piittmann
