Dublin Jerome High School
Nov. 8, 2019
Good Afternoon!
Welcome to a chilly Friday and the beginnings of late fall. While this may be hard to believe we will be entering the 5th week of the 2nd quarter. Students and staff have been working hard in their courses and working hard to ensure that the learning experiences are of high quality. I would encourage you to sit down with your child and log on to Schoology to review and discuss your child's progress to this point.
If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress, please reach out to their teachers. We have Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and this would be a great opportunity to communicate and discuss. Our partnership is important to maximize the learning of your child.
There is plenty of other helpful information below as we enter the final few weeks prior to Thanksgiving break.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Go Celts!

Winter Weather Reminders
In addition to these reminders, I think it is important to take some time to speak with our young drivers. There will be many days that school will be in session but there will be a need to be cautious on the roads. Please take some time to talk with your child about leaving extra time to get to school safely and on time. If they are in a rush to arrive on time, this increases the likelihood of a potentially unsafe situation.
I would also ask the same if you are dropping your son/daughter off to school. Please give your family some extra time to ensure that you can navigate the lots safely. We want to be sure that everyone is safe and ready to learn each day. Thank you for your support and understanding.
First Semester Exams
Monday, Dec. 16: Period 1/2 Exams
Tuesday, Dec. 17: Period 3/4 Exams
Wednesday, Dec. 18: Period 5/6 Exams
Thursday, Dec. 19: Period 7/Make-up Exams
Friday, Dec. 20: NO SCHOOL (Staff PD/Workday)
Semester exams provide the opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning from the first semester. Our teachers will share expectations and provide preparation materials/practice for all students. If you have specific questions about Semester Exams, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Attendance Policy Reminders
I know many of you may travel to see family or vacation during Thanksgiving and Winter Break. Please be mindful of these policies and how that may impact your child as you prepare to leave. Any time a child misses school (regardless of reason) it can have an impact on their success.
If you are going to be gone an extra day, please reach out to our Attendance Office (Mrs. Renard/Mrs. Bender) or 614-718-8256 as soon as you have your schedule. It does take time for our teachers to ensure that students have the materials/resources they need.
Thank you for your assistance to ensure we can support your child in the best way possible.

Dublin ACT and Nationwide Children's Presents: Know More Do More
Every day, we hear stories about the prevalence of opioids in our communities — particularly, prescription painkillers — and the dangers these medications pose, especially when it comes to our kids.
The Dublin ACT (Adolescents and Community Together) Coalition, a team focused on preventing and reducing youth substance abuse, partnered with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to develop a series of guides schools, parents and communities can use to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug misuse in their communities.
