Grandparents' Day Luncheon Information
Grandparents! Don't forget to RSVP for the Grandparent's Day lunch on Friday, September 8th. Please feel free to bring a lunch for you and your student. A valid ID must be presented before you can enter the building, so we recommend arriving a few minutes early. We are asking ALL attendees to RSVP, as this helps our staff plan and make the celebration run in a timely manner. If you are not on the RSVP list, you will not be able to attend. We also must have your Driver's license number listed. We appreciate your understanding.

Fasken Arrival and Dismissal Notes
- We cannot manage cutting in the car line. We are counting on you, our school community, to be kind and model good behavior while in the car line.
- The main school doors will open at 7:10AM, however, no staff members will be on duty to open car doors. Please release students, instruct them to walk on the right side of the tree line, and keep the car line moving. Staff members will only be on duty to open car doors between 7:30-7:45 AM.
- Do not use Becker to join 1-6 grade car line. Greentree Ave. is the best option.
- If you join the drop-off/pick-up line using a golf cart or any other alternative vehicle, follow the same guidelines as normal vehicles. We want to keep everyone safe and it has been reported that accidents have nearly happened as golf carts and such have weaved through traffic.
Watch Dogs Launch
Calling all Fasken Dads, Grandads, Uncles, and Father Figures! Come and go on Tuesday, September 12th from 4:30 to 6pm to learn more about our Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program and sign up to volunteer!

PTA Meeting

2023-24 STAAR Paper Test Request Information
Midland ISD has implemented nearly 100% STAAR online testing for the past year at all levels. STAAR online tests enable students to utilize embedded supports that cannot be replicated on paper formatted assessments. The Texas Legislature passed a bill that allows school districts to administer STAAR in a paper format to any student whose parents/legal guardians/teachers request this format. A paper request is contingent upon the order in which they are received. Please note that the amount of paper testing cannot exceed three percent of the district enrollment. Thus, a request for a paper formatted test is not a guarantee for a paper assessment. Further guidance from the Texas Education Agency will be released early September.

Durante el año escolar 2022-2023, el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Midland (Midland ISD) ha implementado exámenes STAAR en línea en todos los niveles. Estas pruebas en línea permiten a los estudiantes acceder a apoyos integrados que no pueden ser replicados en evaluaciones en formato impreso. La Legislatura de Texas aprobó una ley que permite a los distritos escolares administrar los exámenes STAAR en papel a aquellos estudiantes cuyos padres/tutores legales/maestros así lo soliciten. Las solicitudes en papel serán atendidas en el orden en que se reciban. Es importante tener en cuenta que la cantidad de exámenes en papel no puede exceder el tres por ciento de la matrícula total del distrito. Por lo tanto, hacer una solicitud para un examen en papel no garantiza necesariamente que se le administrará una prueba en papel. Más orientación por parte de la Agencia de Educación de Texas será publicada a principios de septiembre.

Snack Cart
Snack Cart will start on September 8th for Pre-k, Kinder, First, Second and Life Skills students. Snack Cart will start on September 15th for Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth students.

Diez y Seis Parade
Fasken Elementary will be participating in the Hispanic Cultural Center's Diez y Seis Parade on September 16th at 10am. We would appreciate your help! Sign up here.
Float decorations can be dropped off on Thursday, September 14th and Friday, September 15th at 3:30pm at Fasken.
We ask that all participants riding or walking with the float dress up as a Famous Hispanic person of their choice! We have limited spots available on the float itself, and only students are invited to ride. However, we invite all Fasken families to walk alongside the float and help hand out candy!
The parade will travel East on E. New York Ave. to Lamesa Rd. turn right on South Lamesa Rd., continue to Florida Ave. and turn West on Florida Ave. It will continue to S. Colorado Street turn left on S. Colorado. Parade will conclude at South Elementary. We invite all Fasken families to come and support our school!

¡Pedimos que todos los participantes que viajen o caminen con la carroza se disfracen como una persona hispana famosa de su elección! Tenemos lugares limitados disponibles en la carroza y solo los estudiantes están invitados a montar. Sin embargo, invitamos a todas las familias de Fasken a caminar junto a la carroza y ayudar a repartir dulces.
El desfile viajará hacia el este por E. New York Ave. hasta Lamesa Rd. gire a la derecha en South Lamesa Rd., continúe hasta Florida Ave. y gire al oeste en Florida Ave. Continuará hasta S. Colorado Street y gire a la izquierda en S. Colorado. El desfile concluirá en South Elementary. ¡Invitamos a todas las familias de Fasken a venir y apoyar a nuestra escuela!

Student Arrival and Dismissal (Part 1)
Walk ups for arrival or dismissal are not allowed unless they have been previously approved by the Fasken Administrative Team. Exceptions are in place for families who live directly in front of the school or in the Apartment complex directly behind the school.
For the safety of all, stay in assigned car lanes. Do not cut the line, bypass the line and/or park in front of the marquee (Grades 1-6), side road (Pre-K) or any other undesignated area when dropping off or picking up students.

Please be a positive example for our students by following our school guidelines, rules, and procedures.
Always be kind and courteous.
Finally, please remember that our process may start off slow, however with your support, it will become more efficient and effective with every passing day.

Here are some tips to make the dismissal process quicker and more effective:
- Help your student(s) memorize their dismissal number.
- Display you dismissal number sign where it is very easy to see (a pant hanger hanging from your rearview mirror is an ideal placement).
- Review the video and maps below for the least frustrating dismissal routes.
2023 Fasken Notes - Lunch Guests
Beginning Monday, August 28, we invite you to campus to have lunch with your student(s).
All Lunch Guests MUST PRESENT A VALID ID AND BE SCANNED THROUGH OUR RAPTOR SYSTEM.
Unfortunately if you do not have your ID, we cannot allow you in the building – No exceptions can be made.
Sorry for any inconvenience but Lunch Drop Offs are not permitted.

2023 Fasken Notes - Technology
Students in grades 2-6 will be issued chromebooks.
Much like when we issued textbooks, students and families are responsible for any damage and repairs to their assigned chromebooks.
