School Supplies
At the August 5th Open House and during the first week of school, individual classroom teachers may provide specific needs for their class. However, we feel many items from past supply lists can be provided for our students via class sets of supplies (i.e. scissors, glue sticks, etc) and do NOT need to be purchased by our parents.
If you have any questions, please email Principal Kosal (pkosal@mgsd.k12.nc.us)
Rising 6th & new-to-MMS orientation days - next week!
Orientation Dates:
Rising 6th grade Orientation: Wednesday, July 24 from 9:00am - 1:00pm (lunch WILL be provided)
New-to-MMS (7th / 8th grade) Orientation: Thursday, July 25 from 9:00 - 11:00am (lunch not provided)
As you may know, Mooresville Middle School participates in the nationwide WEB Program (Where Everybody Belongs), an organization whose sole purpose is to help rising sixth grade and new-to-MMS students feel more comfortable and help them achieve success in their first year at Mooresville Middle School.
Your child can expect to receive an invitation to these events. If he / she has not received the invitation by Monday, July 22, please call the main office (704-658-2720) and request one.
Students are encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses, or other like items as the day is quite active. Because the day is active, please make sure your child wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.
Lunch will be provided for students during 6th grade orientation.
Your child will receive an initial copy of his/her schedule at orientation. If your child cannot attend orientation, don't worry -- he/she will receive their schedule at Open House on August 5th.
This is a student-only function. Parents will have the opportunity to visit and tour Mooresville Middle School during Open House. We look forward to meeting your child on their Orientation Day!
Student Class Schedule plan: send home via Parent Square to all parents on Aug 2
Power School registration - Important!
PowerSchool Registration is scheduled to go out to families on July 22nd (if not sooner). This is where families verify all their demographic information and update any pertinent information, sign off on various policies (i.e. Technology Responsible Use, Student Code of Conduct, etc., and get links to things like paying the Tech Usage Fee, the Free and Reduced Application, etc.). A code will be emailed to the parent/guardian email on file that they must have in order to complete registration. If parents do not get the email that is expected, please notify your child's school.

Laptops & Technology Fees:
Parents of new-to-MMS students: your child is scheduled to receive their district-issued laptop at MMS on Friday, August 9th. The "New Device Preparation" link on the MGSD Refresh 2024 website will help outline how to handle these expensive yet important devices for your child's education.
ALL parents of MGSD students: As a reminder, all students in grades 3-12 owe the $20 Technology Usage Fee. Information to pay the fee is being sent out along with PowerSchool Registration. Reminders will be sent with district communications again before school starts.
Important -- parents of athletes:
