Fall Career Expo
By: Winter Kassemi and Lily Lewis
On October 25th, Northside Medical Magnet hosted their annual Fall Career Expo. This event gives students a great opportunity to discover and learn about many careers in the healthcare field. Many different medical professionals came to Northside to talk about their careers. They shared details about requirements for their jobs and how they became certified to do their job. Students walked around the gymnasium to talk to the presenters. They were able to ask questions and discuss any concerns about getting into each profession. Presenters distributed papers and flyers with more information. At some stands, students were even allowed to use real equipment that was brought to the school. This helped students really get a sense of the skills that job required. This event showed students many different options for careers in their future and really opened their eyes to the medical field that was available to them when they grow up!
Spirit of Giving Fundraiser
By: Nadya Hunter and Leah Yobby
- Our Medical Magnet students are working hard to raise money for the Spirit of Giving fundraiser. These donations will help fund programs, research, equipment, toys, and items to heal children at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina. This is the third year we have participated in this fundraiser. We all enjoy donating to charity and helping make Christmas brighter for kids in need.
- Students who participate, and donate at least $25, will be invited to a small classroom party on December 17, 2024, at 2 pm. We will enjoy hot chocolate, snacks, games, and more! This party is hosted by the eighth grade medical magnet classes to reward students for participating in this special holiday fundraiser. This fundraiser may be the last Medical Magnet fundraiser for eighth graders. By donating you can make this year’s fundraiser an amazing time for the eighth graders who participate in this.
- We would like to thank everyone for the donations and helping make this Christmas an amazing one for the children at Prisma Hospital! We all hope you and your family have a - Great, Blessed, Fantastic, and Amazing Christmas this year!
