Just a reminder that North View Middle School students need to return their school device, along with the case, charger, and cord, on Tuesday, June 3rd. To help things go smoothly, please make sure the device is charged to at least 50% before turning it in. School staff will be checking everything that day. Don’t worry, a device will be ready for your student in the fall. Thank you for helping us keep our digital learning on track.

The end of the year is here, but we’ve still got a few fun and meaningful things lined up for our students! Here’s what they can look forward to as we wrap up the year with a strong (and joyful!) finish:

  • We will have our final RAFFLE WEEK of the 2024-25 school year to recognize students demonstrating Knight Pride throughout the week.
  • On Friday, June 6th, the last day of school, students will enjoy a Field Day during 5th and 6th hours.

To participate in Field Day, students must:

  • Be safe and peaceful in their words and actions.
  • Show respect for their peers, staff, and the school building.

Please partner with us for a successful last week of school:

  • Locker clean-out is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd. Please remind your student to take everything home that day.
  • On the last day of school, Friday, June 6th, students won’t be able to use their lockers, so they should leave backpacks and other belongings at home.

  • Our Restorative Counselor facilitated 451 restorative conferences and chats this year.
  • Every 6th grader participated in regular Circles led by their Science or English Language Arts teachers.
  • Students engaged in weekly advisory lessons focused on social-emotional wellbeing and positive interactions with others
  • Each trimester, students took part in activities designed to reinforce learning expectations and promote positive behavior.
  • Staff received training each trimester in Restorative Practices, including facilitating circles and restorative conversations.
  • New staff were trained in trauma-informed practices, PBIS, SEL, and Restorative Practices.
  • Each month, we shared our focus areas with staff, students, and families through these newsletters.

Highlights From the Past Month Highlights From the Past Month

Our 7th graders turned into crime scene investigators recently in science class! Using real forensic techniques like rain water acidity analysis, students worked together to solve a mock mystery. It was a hands-on way to explore scientific thinking and teamwork and they had a blast cracking the case!

Mobile App: Free Meals for Kids Mobile App: Free Meals for Kids

zoom_out_map

The Free Meals for Kids mobile app is a free, easy-to-use tool that helps middle school families find free meal sites for children 18 and under. Created by Hunger Impact Partners in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the app uses your location to show nearby spots, like schools, parks, libraries, and community centers, where your child can get a nutritious meal. Most sites don’t require registration, so your student can just show up during listed hours. The app also shares menus, updates, and helpful links to other food support programs like SNAP, WIC, and MFIP.

For families with middle schoolers, this app is especially helpful year-round. During the school year, it shows after-school meal programs and weekend food options like backpack programs. In the summer, it highlights free Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sites where your student can get meals even when school is out. You’ll also find locations like Fare For All, which offer affordable groceries for your whole family. You can download the Free Meals for Kids app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

High school seniors may apply if they plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in a two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2025-26 school year.

More details and a link to the application are available on the Ellevation Education blog. The deadline for applications is May 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. CT.
