TIGER TIMES

NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
What an amazing week we’ve had here at Titus Elementary! Our students have been full of energy, creativity, and teamwork. Throughout the week, your kids have been helping me build excitement for a surprise for Mr. Filson. It has been so fun seeing them work together to make it a memorable moment. Be sure to ask your kiddos all about it – they’ve been excited to keep this one under wraps!
Looking ahead, we’re especially excited for next week as we celebrate one of our most cherished traditions – Read Across Titus! It’s a day devoted to the joy and magic of reading. The entire school will come together for a day of fun, engaging activities, and of course, plenty of reading. It’s always such a joy to see how our students embrace the world of books, characters, and stories. We look forward to making this celebration even more memorable for our students and are thrilled to watch them experience the power of reading in such a dynamic way.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to another fantastic week of learning and fun!
Warmly,
Your Proud Principal
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hi Titus Community –
Wow! What a day it was today. All week long the students were keeping a BIG secret from me. I heard things like “I know something you don’t know,” all week. Even Mr. Farese stopped me in the hall and said “Mr. Filson… Friday is going to be awesome for you.” Well, the big surprise came today, and the wonderful Mrs. Zaleski made me her famous banana bread and let me tell you, It is the real deal! These Titus Tigers know how to keep a secret and loved it over my head.
This week I had the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Maiese teach phonics instruction. Her class is such a fun and engaging classroom to learn in and I even learned all about how to use “Gentle Cindy” to help sound out the soft G sound. The students in her class did a tremendous job and had fun while learning. Thank you, Mrs. Maiese!
One of the greatest parts about being part of the community is seeing our Titus Tigers do all the things they love. AJ Borgmann (1st Grader in Ms. Casey’s class) is not only a great student, but he is also a master on the wrestling mat as he was the KING of the hill for the CB RAIDERS this week. Way to go AJ!
Warmer weather is on the horizon as we get into March. Have a great weekend everyone!
Your Proud Assistant Principal,
Mr. Dave Filson

Scoliosis Screening, March 5th
The nurse’s office will be conducting scoliosis screenings for 6th graders at Titus on Wednesday March 5, 2025. The purpose of this screening is to detect possible curvature of the spine. The screening is simple and quick. Each child is observed individually in a private setting. Students do not disrobe. They will be asked to remove outer layers/sweatshirts or hoodies. Please have your child layer their clothing. Students are encouraged to wear a snug, fitting top such as a T-shirt or under armor as their bottom layer. Please contact our Certified School Nurse, Jennifer Donovan if you have any questions regarding the screening procedure. If you prefer to exclude your child from scoliosis testing, please email me at Jedonovan@cbsd.org prior to the screening date.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation,
Jennifer Donovan RN, BSN, CSN, MEd. Jedonovan@cbsd.org

TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.

Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition, March 25
Join Us for "Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition" on March 25 at Lenape
Are you watching kids become too accustomed to using technology at too young an age? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw this happening with her kids and wondered about the impact and the friction occurring in homes and schools around negotiating screen time. The result is "Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition."
On Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Lenape Middle School auditorium, parents, guardians, and caregivers are invited to a screening of the film, which will kick off a CBSD series on digital wellness. "Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition" is a version of the original "Screenagers" movie and addresses issues that elementary school aged kids, parents and educators are facing, such as smartwatches in class, unhooking from and monitoring video gaming, social media pressures, exposure too young, and what research shows is a healthy amount of screen time. Solutions are also offered.
No pre-registration is required. This event is for parents, guardians and caregivers only. There will be no child care available.

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
