Dear DPM Families and Community,

It is with mixed emotions that we share news of Mr. Rob Wegley’s planned DPM departure at the end of this school year. This morning at a Special Meeting of the District 109 Board of Education, Mr. Wegley’s contract was approved. He will become Principal at Shepard Middle School in Deerfield, effective July 1, 2024.

Rob joined District 67 in 2016 as a Deer Path Middle School Language Arts teacher. In 2020, he was named DPM Dean of Culture and, in 2022, became Assistant Principal for DPM Grades 7 and 8. Since joining the DPM team, Rob has inspired our students and staff not only as an instructor but also as a creative collaborator—always willing to do whatever it takes to make our school a better place.

“I am eternally grateful for the support of my colleagues and our DPM families. Their belief in me as a teacher and education leader has been transformative,” Rob reflected. “I am excited about this new opportunity and look forward to applying the many lessons I have learned in Lake Forest just a few miles down the road.”

We wish Rob the very best as he begins his first principalship. We will keep the community informed of the next steps regarding plans to fill the vacancy created by Rob’s departure.
