HV Update 12-6-2024

Dear HV Families,

Today, we announced our Educators of the Year. Congratulations to Mrs. Sarah Callaghan, 5th Grade Teacher and Mrs. Danielle Ciccaglione, School Nurse. We look forward to celebrating with them further throughout the year.

Thank you to the HSA for hosting a very successful Holiday Boutique! Don't miss the first HSA Craft Show tomorrow. It will be held from 10:00 A.M to 3:00 P.M. in the HV gym.

Next week, there is an early dismissal day on Tuesday, December 10th at 12:40 P.M. for staff professional development. No lunch will be served. If you are interested in purchasing a snack that day, please see the HSA section for more information. Today is the last day to purchase a snack.

Today marks the end of the first trimester. Report cards will be available for viewing next Friday, December 13th at 4:00 P.M.

Congratulations to Mrs. Sarah Callaghan, Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Danielle Ciccaglione, Educational Service Provider of the Year! Everyone here at Hillview is proud to work with you and appreciate your contributions to the school. Both recipients are very deserving of this honor. Be sure to offer congratulations next time you see them!

Although it seems much better, we still had a few new cases of the stomach bug this week. Please continue to monitor for nausea and encourage handwashing with soap and water to help prevent the spread of the stomach bug. Please click on the links below to learn more.

Other important reminders:

• Flu activity begins to rise in October and usually peaks between December and February
• Your child has a fever if the temperature is >/= 100.4
• Keep your child home until fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication
• If nausea/vomiting/diarrhea related to illness- keep your child home until 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea
• Keep home if your child is not able to participate in school activities due to general malaise, fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches

We are in need of lunch aides at HV! If you have a couple hours to spare during the week, we could really use the help! If you are interested, please contact the main office for more information.

Hillview is collecting hats, scarves, gloves/mittens and gently used coats for children and adults in need. Donated items will be distributed by Jacksonville Chapel on Christmas morning.

Artist Caren Olmsted will be returning to Hillview this school year for another wonderful mural project. It will be located in the gym wing of the school and will be a permanent feature. If you are interested in having a paw print painted with your families name, child’s name, class’s name, etc., click the link below to place an order. Please note we will not be able to add paws once the mural has been started. Leave your legacy on Hillview

All Hillview students along with parent volunteers, will participate in painting this exciting mural project. Keep a lookout later this year for a sign up to come help the students paint the mural.
