Letter from Principal Jones
Welcome back to school!
Dear Morton Mustang Parents,
Families, our middle school day at Morton is from 8:35 am- 4:05 pm. Students arriving between 8:35 am and 8:55 am will have an opportunity to get breakfast in the cafeteria before reporting to the gymnasium or the media center. Once again this year, breakfast and lunch are free for all students. At 9:05 am, the bell rings for school to begin. On Tuesday, August 13, you will receive a separate email from the Counseling Office. That email will provide directions on how to access the parent portal to view your scholar’s schedule. For students who are riding the bus, bus schedules are available utilizing three methods:
1. The counseling office has paper copies
2. First and Eighth hour teachers will also help with bus information or
3. You can access them online using your home address via the following link: https://www.infofinderi.com/ifi/?cid=FPSD1VRS0XMD5. (This link is not currently live, as FCPS is updating the bus routes.)
Parent communication is integral to scholar success at Morton. Thus, families will be receiving bi-weekly newsletters with updates on important events and calendar dates. Parents also have access to Daily Announcements via this link.
Please know that our offices are always open to all; we welcome your calls. We are glad that you are part of our Morton family. A school can only run at its peak if we all work together. Our vision statement for Morton is “Exemplary Learning: No Excuses, No Exceptions.” We need all of our school community working together to ensure we are meeting the inidividual needs of our scholars. YOU are an essential part of our team!
Most Sincerely,
Twanjua Jones, Principal
Kris Ann Creteau, Assistant Principal
Eric Sanford, Assistant Principal
Adam Layne, Dean of Students
Vicki Yates, Instructional Specialist

Morton Cell Phone Guidelines
Purpose:
Create a safe and focused learning environment with minimal distractions. Our first commitment to create this environment will be to eliminate cell phone distractions.
Guidelines:
Cell phones will not be permitted during the school day. The school day is defined as 9:05-3:55. Cell phones will be stored in one of these three designated areas** (student locker, school provided locked carriers, backpack) .
Violation Response:
First Violation:
Warning and phone returned to the scholar at the end of the day.
Second Violation:
Phone held by the school until the parent/guardian picks it up.
Subsequent Violations:
If a student brings a phone to school, it must be stored in the reset room and can be picked up at the end of the instructional day. This policy applies for the entire semester. If a student brings a phone onto campus without storing the phone in the reset, they will be required to serve after-school or Saturday detention. The scholar will still be required to store the phone in the reset room after serving the detention until the semester ends.
Emergency Contact:
Students may contact parents/guardians, when necessary, using the classroom/school office phone. Contact will need to be made during appropriate breaks in instruction or during non-instructional times.
**Note: These guidelines align with FCPS policy and is subject to modification.
