Note from Mrs. Fragomeni
Families,
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for making this Halloween season one to remember! Our Trunk or Treat event was a fantastic success, we had trunk themes like cookie monster, skeletons, Harry Potter, and so much more! It was truly a joy to see so many smiling faces, and we appreciate everyone who came out to celebrate with us. A special thank you to our PTA for organizing this incredible evening!
We’re also grateful to everyone who helped with our school’s Halloween parade and classroom parties. The high school marching band, Public Safety, and all our Blue Jays made the parade a joyful experience, and the parties that followed were filled with excitement, laughter, and treats galore.
Thank you again for your time, energy, and support in making these Halloween celebrations unforgettable for our students. We’re so lucky to have such a wonderful community of families!
Go Blue Jays!

New Burton Logo/Spirit Wear Coming!
I am thrilled to share that the Burton Blue Jays have a newly designed school logo. A big thank you to Robbie Biederman (Burton parent) for creating a logo that truly symbolizes Burton's legacy and a vision for our future.
The updated logo features a crest, much like the classic football clubs, signifying the strength and lineage of our community. The bricks proudly represent our school building, the welcoming front sign, and the iconic clock tower—a true testament to our heritage. And, of course, our Blue Jay has been given a modern look, embodying the spirit of growth and innovation that defines us.
Our new logo will now be featured across Burton and in our spirit wear collection, which will be available starting Thursday, November 7th at our new online Spirit Wear Shop! From T-shirts and hoodies to accessories, we’re excited to offer an array of options for students, staff, and families to show their Blue Jay pride.
Next Fall, I look forward to celebrating Burton 100th anniversary with the community and showcasing our bond upgrades including the multipurpose room/cafeteria!
A glimpse of some spirit wear items to show your Blue Jay pride!

Caring & Sharing
Caring & Sharing is a Berkley Area PTSA Council annual event.
Caring & Sharing is a Berkley Area PTSA Council annual event that provides holiday gift cards to families in the Berkley School District and local Veterans. Historically, this event has been a partnership inside our schools through non-perishable food drives and PTAs purchased turkeys, extra food & fresh produce to distribute holiday baskets.
Since 2020, the PTSA Council has collected funds through online fundraising, hoping to raise as much money as possible to give families generous gift cards to purchase groceries to meet their needs.
In 2023, Caring & Sharing raised $20,420, fed 85 families, and gave over $1,000 to the American Legion. In addition to monetary donations through Memberhub, substantial donations were also received as part of the Berkley Cares Days at each school.
If you know of a family in need, or your family is in need this holiday season, please complete the form below. All referral information will be used confidentially to provide families in need with a gift card this holiday season.
We are asking for your support as we come together to help our friends & neighbors this holiday season. Please make a donation today and spread the word within our Berkley School Community!
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please tap below.
We will also be participating in a glove drive and Berkley Care Days beginning November 8th (hat day). Please send gloves to the front office.

Burton Bond Update
Fencing Near Burton Field
Please note, the map above is not exact or to scale. Just to give an idea of the ongoing construction.
Bond Update:
This is the first phase of our construction work. As a reminder, here is the plan for this construction season:
Burton’s new multi-purpose/cafeteria addition will be attached to the building at the northeast corner of the playground by the gym. It will house a new lunchroom, a new kitchen, storage rooms, restrooms and will be a wonderful space for collaboration.
Half of Burton’s playground (east side) and parking lot will be fenced off by mid-October to prepare for construction. The playground doors will remain open with the construction fence just to the east.
Construction fencing will also go up in the southeast section of the field inside the track, to prepare for a new, smaller playground area. The park entrance will still be accessible.
Due to the location of the addition, some Burton playground equipment (swings, monkey bars, tubes, shade sails) will move to inside the track permanently.
The street-side parking on Nadine plus the sidewalk will remain open through November/December.
Once the new playground area is completed in the field, the Nadine parking lot and sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot will be closed to the public through the end of August 2025. At that time, Burton families and students will use a gate near the field for drop off and pick up.
As construction dates get solidified, we will share them with the Burton and Huntington Woods community so everyone is prepared for the full construction season.
November Lunch Menu
Tuesdays = Dominos Pizza
On Tuesdays, Domino's Pizza will be among the five food choices students can select. All students ordering pizza will receive ONE free slice and a vegetable, fruit, and milk. If your child would like an additional slice of pizza (2 slices total), they must preorder it in the morning and have at least $2.00 in their student account. On Tuesday mornings, classroom teachers will ask students if they would like one slice or two. This is helpful so the lunch team is accurate on the total pizza slices to decrease food waste.
To add funds to your child's account, please access the Parent Portal.
