Quantum Family Connection
Week of January 20, 2025
Hello Quantum Families,
Hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Dr. This is one of my favorite holidays because it reminds us of our commitment to serving others, and at Quantum this means our impact the community value. We have so many impact the community opportunities coming up in the next few weeks and I can’t wait to shine the light on this essential element of Quantum!
As we are mid-way through the year, it’s important to check on how our Quarks are progressing academically and with our Quantum values. Progress reports will be mailed home on Friday for students in 6-8 and send home in backpacks for students in 4th and 5th grades. You will also be receiving iReady Diagnostic 2 scores in the mail. Please discuss your child’s progress at home and contact your Quark’s teacher with any questions or concerns.
An important part of every Quark’s success is coming to school on time every day. A missed day means missed opportunities for academic and social development, plus instruction in our Quantum values. Much of this can’t be made up and we want all of our Quarks to have the best chance at success. Our staff work tirelessly to provide engaging, high quality learning experiences for our students and one-of-a-kind enrichment opportunities. Every Day Counts at Quantum!
Dad Squad Orientation
Join our Dad Squad team for the 24-25 school year! Dads can do a lot at Quantum Academy to help support their Quarks. Show your student that you believe in them and their school by volunteering ONE DAY in the school year. Most of our volunteers are moms and now we’d like to give our positive male role models a chance along with other parents/caregivers/grandparents/uncles, etc. All are welcome to volunteer. Who knows, you may like it so much you’ll come again!
Join us on Wednesday, January 22nd, and we want to have as many fathers and father figures there to learn about the program and sign up for dates. We’ll launch at 6pm with pizza. Come to learn about the program and connect with new families!
Kids Heart Challenge
We are excited to partner with the American Heart Association this year through the Kids Heart Challenge service-learning program. We have a school-wide goal of having 100% of staff, students, and at least one family member at home learn lifesaving hands only CPR.
Students will learn how to have happy and healthy hearts, and learn about those with special hearts. Students can choose to gather donations as part of this challenge but that component is totally optional.
Steps to get started:
Join the team at www.heart.org/schools or by downloading the FREE AHA Schools App for Apple or Android.
Give or Get a Donation to help those with special hearts and start earning your own heart healthy quack attack crew ducks!
Start Finn’s Mission to learn Hands-Only CPR
Any student that completes FINN’s MISSION before our kickoff on 1/24 will be recognized at the assembly with a special Heart Hero cape and receive the BONUS Wylie & Bingo duck who reminds us to BE KIND!
Meet heart survivor Finn (Youtube video) and hear how completing Finn’s Mission gives hope to everyone, everywhere. Let’s save lives together! Thank you for being a Heart Hero!
Interfaith Community Service Project
4th grade is taking on a service project in partnership with Interfaith Community Services and has a goal of making 300 sack lunches for people in need. We need to your help to collect the items for the lunches! Sign up to bring perishables and non-perishables. Thanks in advance for making this impact the community project possible for students!
