Principal's Message
Hello, AMS Students and families,
Happy New Year and welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable winter break. We are excited to dive into the last portion of our first semester with energy and focus.
As we gear up to wrap up the semester, I want to highlight a few important dates:
- Friday, January 17th: Non-student day (no school for students).
- Friday, January 24th: Half-day for students and the final day of the semester.
- MAP Testing: Please see below the upcoming dates for the second administration of the NWEA MAPs assessment.
This is a great time to review goals, stay organized, and make every effort to finish the semester strong. Caregivers, your encouragement and support are essential during this time. Students, let's keep working hard and giving your best effort all the way to the last day of Semester 1!
Thank you for your partnership and dedication to making this school year a success. Here's to a productive and positive start to the new year!
Best,
Kia duNann
Principal
Testing
District MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing will begin on January 28th. MAP assessments are computer adaptive achievement tests in Mathematics and Reading and are a norm-referenced measure of student growth over time. Test make ups will be on January 31st and February 3rd.
If you choose to refuse testing for your student, please fill out the attached form and return it via email to mfrost@asd103.org by Friday, January 24th.
Upcoming Student-Led Conferences
Mark your calendars! On February 13, AMS will host Student-Led Conferences, a unique opportunity for students to actively share their learning journey. During these conferences, students will present artifacts and reflections from their classes, highlighting their achievements, growth, and goals. This meaningful experience empowers students to take ownership of their education while fostering valuable conversations with their families.
Stay tuned for more details! A family letter and SignUpGenius link will be shared later this month to help you schedule your conference.
