Art Literacy - Chuck Close Project a Success!
The PTC would like to thank Far West Fibers for their generous grant awarded to Cedar Park. Golden Bough, a Celtic and International Folk Music Ensemble from California will perform for the school in April. This will be a great compliment to our art literacy lesson and the school's MYP emphasis on international learning.
Art Literacy is funded entirely by the PTC and run by volunteers. Thank you for your support. Photo credit of Art Lit activities: Katelynn Hitsman

What is one thing you wished parents of middle school students knew?
Last Spring during a 5th Grade Parent Night at Cedar Park, there was a panel of 6-8th graders up on the stage that were answering questions that were directed to the soon-to-be 6th graders and their parents/guardians in the audience. I distinctly remember one of the questions that was given to the panel of "expert" middle schoolers . . . "What advice would you give to the parents of your 6th grader?" The student panel advised parents to stay very involved with their child's schoolwork and happenings around school. Even though middle schoolers have a desire to act all grown up and independent, they need and appreciate a supportive parent/guardian. One student said, "We might act like we don't need your help . . . in reality, we really do."
What is your favorite holiday?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I get to be around lots of family, there is a ridiculous amount of delicious food, football is on TV, people are in a festive mood, and there's no drama or stress relating to gift-buying.
What does a typical lunch look like for you?
I get teased about my lunches . . . quite boring and very predictable . . . the main variances are which type of homemade jam is on my PB&J, which type of fruit, and what flavor of yogurt. Lunch is on the run and part of it is usually eaten during my lunch duty in the cafeteria. Isn't eating small meals throughout the day suppose to be good for you?
