Message from Mrs. Pender and Mrs. Roberts
Bobcat Families,
We have officially finished our first week of school and are happy to be back in full swing. Students have been busy learning routines and procedures, meeting new friends and adjusting to their new classes.
Car Rider Line
This year, 35% of our students ride the bus, and the remaining students are either a car rider or attend aftercare. Due to this large percentage of students arriving and dismissing in cars, we have made small adjustments to our drop-off and pick up procedures. In the morning, families will be able to drop students in the car rider line starting at 7:10 a.m. instead of 7:15 a.m. The chain blocking the car rider line will be in place promptly at 7:45. Please keep in mind that students that do not make it to class on time will be rerouted to the office for a tardy pass.
In the afternoon, we ensure that cars are loaded as quickly as possible. Many of our younger students and new families are adjusting to this process. Some quick tips to help speed up the process:
- Pull close to the car in front of you to ensure gaps are not created in the line. If we need to move your student down a pole or two, we will.
- Be ready to leave the line as soon as your child is safely in the car.
- Teach your child how to buckle their seatbelt or car seat, if possible.
- We ask that students enter vehicles from the passenger side of the car. If this is absolutely not possible, please pull to the yellow box so the car line can keep moving.
We appreciate your help with these procedures.
Facebook Page, “Coosa Moms"
This Facebook page is not a district and/or school affiliated site. After realizing that some families thought this was “one of our school sites” we felt clarification was needed. It is our understanding that this page was developed for Coosa families to ask questions of other families that are a part of our school community. Although this is not a district/school site, we are often alerted to questions and comments being made on the site. For the most accurate information about a school policy, procedure, upcoming event, etc., we ask that you reach out to your child’s teacher and/or an administrator to obtain the correct information. This will ensure the most accurate information is being given.
Update from Nurse Fickes
Welcome Coosa Families!
Currently, Nurse Fickes is looking at ALL of the Health Cards and following up with medical concerns.
Nurse Fickes will then be reviewing SC Immunization records over the next several weeks. She will contact families if additional documentation is needed.
Military Purple Star School
Coosa Elementary School is proud to be a Military Purple Star School, a program that supports military-connected children as they relocate to new schools due to a parent’s change in duty station. Mrs. Evelina Fair is Coosa's Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC). The role of MFLC is to provide private and confidential services to military children and their families, provide short-term, non-medical counseling, provide fun activities where military children can connect with each, and provide guidance and support to military families. Please contact Mrs. Fair by calling 843-322-6100 or emailing at Faire@magellanhealth.com.
