Principal Message
Please make note of the additional upcoming dates that we will not be able to accommodate lunch deliveries or visitors. We appreciate your understanding during this busy testing season. Please be sure your child charges their computer nightly and comes to school with their computer on benchmark days.
Just a reminder, Gleason has an end of year party in lieu of a Valentine’s Day party. Students may bring valentines for all classmates on Thursday, February 13 to exchange the last 15 minutes of the day. Valentines with treats or candy will be allowed, but will be sent home with students in their valentine bag at the end of the day. Please do not send cookies, cupcakes, etc. Those items will not be permitted. In addition, please do not send any items containing peanuts due to student allergies.
Your child's progress report for the 3rd marking period can be accessed on HAC. Students in grades PK-1st received hard copies in their Friday folder due to theirs not being available in HAC. Please review your child's progress report card and celebrate their successes with them.

Monthly Character Traits
(Gleason will introduce the trait the first Wednesday of each month)
February: Loyalty
As part of the CFISD’s Bringing Out the Best Program (BOTB), we are focusing on Loyalty for the month of February. The definition is Faithfulness to a person, cause, ideal, or institution
Being loyal means someone can count on you because you’re trustworthy, honest, and caring. Here’s two take home activities to discuss what loyalty should look like, sound like and feel like in your home. What is Loyalty in Our Family or Family Creed or Family Collage
We also want to discuss how to be a loyal friend. Here’s a quick activity: Being a Good Friend. Have the discussion that we don’t “blindly” follow a friend. Being loyal does not mean we do things that we’re not comfortable with, that’s not allowed in our home or that you know is not okay. Being a loyal friend, sometimes means we have to report their feelings, thoughts and actions to ensure our friend is safe. We C.A.R.E. by having Compassion, being Aware, Reporting if needed and we Encourage one another.
Attention JVHS Parents of Seniors
If your senior attended Gleason Elementary for at least two school years and will be furthering their education, please know that Gleason will be giving out two scholarships. For more information please contact the JVHS College & Career Specialist.
Counselor's Corner
This week, February 3rd-7th, was National School Counseling Week. Did you know that I get to work with all students at Gleason? I see students through guidance (visiting the classes), small groups (intervention with students that need extra support) and individually (at the student’s request). My lessons are based on counseling standards to help students learn coping skills, how to work well with fellow students, how to make informed decisions and even how to take responsibility for his/her actions. These are all important skills that help us be good friends, family members and, someday, employees. I get excited when I see your child using a skill he/she has learned – whether it’s successfully working on a group project with other students or resolving a conflict.
One of my standards is to collaborate with families, teachers, principals and other school staff to help your child be successful. I know that children have many influences in their life, including your family and other adults here at the school. We all want to work together to support your child.
At any time, if your family is needing resources for emotional health, financial support, or going through a family change, please reach out. I am a resource for your child. Here are some of the available resources.
RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS WEEK- February 10th-14th
This upcoming week is Random Acts of Kindness Week (RAK Week). Help us make kindness a habit by encouraging your child to randomly spread kindness. How many can your child(ren) complete this week? RAK Week
5th Grade Parents:
I hope many of you were able to go to Cook’s Elective Night. I have a few students that are zoned to another middle school and all 5th graders have received the flyer for the school they are zoned to for the 2025-2026 school year. Please remember flyers will be added to your child’s Schoology and into this folder: Parent Information: Middle School Transition 25-26.
Here are some important dates for Middle School:
February 24th- Cook MS Music Department visits Gleason during large group (students only)
February 24th- elective sheets assigned through Schoology
March 7th- elective sheets due
Tentative K-Level Letters (Spanish) will be sent once 3rd nine-weeks grades are finalized to those students that earn a yearly average of 85% thus far.
Changes in K-Level after 4th nine-weeks grades are final will be sent with report cards.
It is important to fill out and turn in the elective sheets, even if you plan to transfer or move schools. The classes your child is scheduled to attend will follow your child. For example, if your child wants to be in band. There are specific days to choose instruments and it’s before the transfer window opens. If you wait, the instrument that your child may want to learn may not be available.
A Note From The Nurse...Mrs. Nguyen
Please remember to pack a spare set of clothes (socks and underwear) in case of bathroom accidents or drink spills. PreK and K should have several sets. Borrowed clothes should be returned clean to clinic as soon as possible since we are running very low.
Parents should anticipate a call from the clinic to provide clothing if the student does not have a spare set and if the clinic is out of clothes in their size.
We are looking for gently used girls/boys shorts, new girls/boys underwear donations (size Small-Medium/6-8), and baby wipes. Thank you so much!
