Welcome Leonard Granda- Our Newest Scholarship Coordinator!
We are excited to announce that Leonard Granda will be taking over the scholarship coordinator role in ASLHS!
Leonard S. Granda, Ed.D., has taught America Sign Language for over 20 years in various levels from kindergarten to college level students. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Gallaudet University and a Master’s degree in Education of the Deaf from San Diego State University. Dr. Granda has taught at San Diego State University, The College of the Holy Cross, Bloomsburg University of PA, Austine School for the Deaf, The Learning Center for Deaf Children, Loudoun County Public Schools (VA) and various community colleges. Dr. Granda completed his doctoral degree at Lamar University in Deaf Studies / Deaf Education in 2014. Dr. Granda's dissertation was on a case study of teaching a Deaf immigrant student using ASL/English Bilingual strategies that was published by Dawn Sign Press. Dr. Granda is also a strong advocate for the Deaf community and for early language acquisition in Deaf children. Dr. Granda is current a clinical assistant professor at ETSU.

The ASL EDU Virtual Symposium is ASLTA’s new annual event. Its theme is “Make Teaching ASL FUN!” It will be held on July 19-20, 2024.
This symposium brings together scholars and educators to discuss various topics relating to enhancing the students’ learning experience in ASL classrooms. It promises to be a stimulating two days of talks, workshops, and discussions aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the role teachers play in students’ language learning.
We warmly welcome all types of educators, including ASL teachers, mentors, administrators, and interpreters, to attend the ASLTA’s inaugural symposium! Your diverse perspectives and experiences are highly valued and will enrich our discussions.
All webinar sessions and social events will be conducted through Zoom Conference.
