A Message from the Principal
Dear Sand Lake Families,
It’s just about that time of year that many of us look forward too, summer! Hopefully, the weather will be great, fish will be plentiful, and we’ll all be able to get out and enjoy our time with family and friends.
Our Kindergarten students are ready for 1st grade, and our 5th graders are heading off to middle school. Our students have come a long way and have shown a lot of growth. Please encourage your children to take some time to read this summer, spending just a little time each day reading will help them keep the skills they’ve spent all year working on.
Thank you to those families that have already enrolled their children for next year, and I’d like to remind everyone else that online registration is open for returning students. Early registration helps us tremendously with planning for the upcoming school year.
The first day of school for students in grades 1 thru 5 will be on August 14th. Kindergarten students will start on August 21st.
There are many activities scheduled prior to the last day of school, and your continued assistance during these activities will be needed. Once again, we will be taking a proactive position with the last day of school, by not allowing backpacks at school, and all our teachers will have safety discussions with our students. We are looking forward to another year without any vandalism or harassment issues. As a reminder, students that choose to violate rules, or hurt others on the last day will be disciplined by the school.
Finally, I’d like to thank the Sand Lake Elementary School Community for all the support you have provided over the years. I’d especially like to thank all the staff members that have been part of the school, because these are the people that are working hard each day to make this a great school. As I move on, I’ll take with me many fond memories and friendships that I’ll never forget. Though I will not be here next year, I’ll continue to be an advocate for Sand Lake Elementary School.

Dear Sand Lake Families,
Summer break will be here soon. Please add to your calendar some items to consider for your child’s health and well-being.
Well child check-ups and Physicals
(These are not required for school entry but are beneficial for your child’s health)
● Physicals are an excellent time to find or prevent problems early
● This is a great time to update immunizations/vaccinations
Dental exams
● Everyone should have a dental exam every year at the minimum
● Dental health has a strong link to heart health as well as emotional health
Eye Exams
● A full eye exam with an eye specialist is a great preventative care measure
● A child who needs classes to see cannot be expected to succeed without them
Do you or a family member suffer from season change related allergy symptoms?
What Health Information is required for school entry every year?
Proof of current vaccinations/immunizations or the appropriate exemption forms.
- Religious Exemption forms must be completed again for each school year.(Do not complete this before July 1st, 2025)
- If your child has a long term medical diagnosis or problem, this should be on record with the school through the nurse.
- Please update health conditions and concerns every school year as this is a very important safety matter.
"You cannot educate a child who is not healthy, and
you cannot keep a child healthy who is not educated."-Dr. Jocelyn Elders
