Principal Update
We have successfully completed our first week of school in 2025, and I couldn't be more proud of our students! It's been a week full of new learning experiences, growth, and perseverance.
One example of perseverance that stood out this week was during our NWEA MAP testing. They approached the tests with focus and effort, demonstrating resilience and a positive attitude toward their learning.
Another great example came from our basketball courts, where our 5th grade players showed amazing teamwork and never gave up. Whether they were learning new moves or playing in games, they worked hard to get better. It was awesome to see how they faced challenges, cheered each other on, and celebrated their progress. Their determination is a great reminder of how much they can accomplish when they keep trying their best!
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help our students thrive this year. We look forward to more opportunities for growth, teamwork, and perseverance as we continue the school year.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Ruesch
Playground Committee
We are excited to share that our school playgrounds will be getting an update! Originally scheduled for replacement in the summer of 2026, a recent analysis has determined that some equipment needs to be replaced sooner. These updates will now take place in the summer of 2025 and will include:
Replacement of the small playground (Kindergarten playground)
Replacement of approximately half of the equipment on the large playground
The district has provided Rose with a budget to support the necessary updates to the playgrounds.
To ensure the new playgrounds meet the needs and interests of our community, we will be establishing a Playground Committee to gather input and ideas. This committee will seek feedback from various stakeholders, including parents, staff, and most importantly, our students!
We look forward to working together to design playgrounds that will provide our students with safe, fun, and engaging play opportunities for years to come. Please complete this form by Friday, January 17, if you are interested in participating in the Playground Committee.

Mental Health Days
Public Act 102-0321 (Senate Bill 1577) allows students to take up to five mental or behavioral health days per year. A student is not required to provide a medical note and must be given the opportunity to make up any schoolwork missed during such absences. Students are not allowed to call themselves in; a parent must contact the school for the absence to be considered excused. In summary, Mental Health Days are simply excused absences in the same way as if a student were physically ill. Upon requesting a second mental health day, a member of the Rose Student Services team will contact the student’s parent/guardian to discuss the appropriate support services needed for the student.
Noetic Math Contest
Congratulations to our Extended Teacher, Mrs. Sitzberger, and her students! The Rose 3rd grade extended math students competed in a Noetic Math competition this fall. They were required to complete 20 challenging math problems in 45 minutes.
There were over 31,000 participants in this year's fall contest! Students who scored in the top 50% received an Honorable Mention certificate and a ribbon. The Stingrays who earned this recognition are Anika, Elizabeth, and Addie! Students who scored in the top 10% received a National Honorable Mention certificate and a medal. The Stingrays who earned this recognition are Ilias, Ry, Ali, Naya, Ethan, and Ansh! Ethan and Ansh also tied for class winner.
In addition, the Rose team was awarded the Team Achievement Award for finishing in the top 10% of all the teams competing. Congratulations to everyone for all their hard work! Your Rose School family is proud of your effort!
