One Act Players Compete at Regions
Tuesday morning they traveled to Aberdeen to compete against five other schools in the Region IV One-Act Play competition. While Aberdeen Roncalli and Milbank were the teams to advance to the state meet, the students still performed well and Kerwin, pictured at right, even won an Outstanding Acting Award.
Prepping for Science Fair
Students in Mrs. Meland's and Mrs. Chan's Physical Science and Biology classes have been extra busy this week preparing their entries for the Science Fair. Students have been conducting various experiements, analyzing their results, and then preparing to display their data to inform others. Pictured at left is Brooklyn, putting the finishing touches on her board about her project that compared the efficacy of different stain removers.
The local Science Fair will be held on Tuesday, February 11th in the PAC. Projects will be on display that evening for those attending Parent-Teacher Conferences to view as well.
Amazing Art!
In Painting Class, students are exploring in the acrylic paint unit. For this project, students practice mixing different light, medium and dark values of colors to create their own neon signs, on canvas.
In Clay Class, students finished their “Syd’s Toys Project." For this project, they took inspiration from the movie Toy Story and how Andy’s neighbor Syd created mutant toys — students were asked to mesh their two favorite childhood toys together into one toy, using the pinch pot method to create their bodies. Creating two pinch pots; students then slip and scored them together to form a ball shape, while adding extra limbs and touches to make their own weirdly cool toys!
