Dear SGF Families,

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we want to thank all of you for everything you do to help ensure the success of our students.

We are so thankful for the incredible community we have here at SGF. We truly have something marvelous here.

We hope that each and every one of you has an amazing Thanksgiving.

As a reminder, there will be no school Nov. 23, 24 and 25 for Thanksgiving break. We can’t wait to welcome our students back on Nov. 28.

This week, South High had two very special visitors from Europe.

Eirik Berre and Jens Seip of the educational technology company Curipod spent Thursday at South High observing classes and meeting with staff and administration.

The team has been touring the Northeast and was on hand to learn more about the United States Educational System.

National Honor Society

Congratulations to our newest inductees to the National Honor Society. More than 60 new members were inducted during a special ceremony on Thursday.

Community Conversation

We hope you will join us for our first Community Conversation on Dec. 1. at the Moreau Community Center.

This first meeting will focus on getting to know each other and strengthening relationships. We hope you will join us for this critical first meeting.

Career and College Exploration Opportunities

Tenth graders interested in attending BOCES next year should plan on going on one of two upcoming field trips. On Friday, Dec. 9 and Friday, Dec. 16, the Guidance Office will be sponsoring a field trip to BOCES. Any sophomores interested in learning more about the vocational programs offered at BOCES should stop by the Guidance Office to pick up a permission slip. All permission slips are due by Thursday, Dec. 1.

Kindness Closet Deliveries

The SGF Kindness Closet will continue offering delivery of items for those who can not physically get to the closet when it is open.

The Kindness Closet provides hygiene products, cleaning supplies, towels, sheets, pots and pans, and many other everyday household essentials free to SGF families.

Those who need a delivery should fill out a Google Form and provide their delivery information.

The deliveries will be the week following our open days at the Kindness Closet.

The Kindness Closet will be open for normal pickup on Saturday, Nov. 19.

Historic Run

Congratulations to our Varsity Field Hockey Team, who made it to the state semifinal game last week. The team played incredibly well. They have a lot to be proud of, and we know everyone here is also proud.

Modified Tryouts

Tryouts for modified basketball (boys and girls), swimming and wrestling will be held on Monday, Nov. 28. See our winter tryout schedule for locations.

About the South Glens Falls Central School District

The South Glens Falls Central School District was formed in 1945 through the consolidation of 15 rural schools, and was the first chartered school district in Saratoga County by the New York State Board of Regents. It covers 70 square miles in Saratoga County, serving approximately 20,000 residents in the Village of South Glens Falls and towns of Moreau, Northumberland and Wilton. The total district enrollment is about 3,000 students.

The district comprises four neighborhood K-5 elementary schools, one middle school and one senior high school. Class sizes average 20 students. A professional staff of more than 500 provides a high level of instruction that is creative, challenging and responsive to student needs.
