Home Project - Reminder
We need your help! To enrich our social studies lessons about customs, holidays, and celebrations of our community, we are asking each learner to create a short video about a holiday your family celebrates. A sheet has been included to help you brainstorm some ideas to talk about. Props, artifacts, authentic dress are encouraged!
Navigate to the following Flipgrid topic to create your video:
This is a very user friendly site, making it easy to do a “second take” if needed. Videos are limited to two and half minutes, so you may want to time a trial run to be sure all your ideas are included. Be sure to tell us the name of your holiday and explain some of the related traditions. The style of your video is up to you and additional “cast members” like a parent or sibling to help with explanations are fine. We will be sharing these videos in class and can’t wait to learn from you!
We have also attached a paper doll figure for you to dress in a way to represent your heritage. Get creative with the materials you use - fabric, buttons, small objects, etc. Cut out your paper doll and return it with your name on the back and the name of the country or culture you are representing. We will be putting these on display in the hallway to celebrate our likenesses and differences.
The videos, planning sheet and paper doll may be completed and returned on or before Monday, December 9.
We appreciate your time and effort at home to make this a more meaningful learning experience for everyone!
