The Weekly Highlander

We had an AMAZING week! The Hewes PTA and many parent volunteers put on an incredible community event, The Color Run. Students, parents, and staff had a great time getting messy and being outside throwing chalk. It took a lot of coordination and a ton of volunteer hours to make this event happen, our PTA is AWESOME! Our counseling team is working with our students to organize Club Rush this Friday, October 4th at lunch. Students who are creating clubs will have a table with signs and information about their club so that students can sign up and connect with others who have similar interests. This is a great way for students to meet new people.

Tustin Unified School District will host the annual Pathways to Success Event on October 9th at Foothill High School. There will be a range of speakers to help parents and students begin the conversation about what is next after high school. The event begins at 5:30 pm and is appropriate for middle and high school students and their families.

Congratulations to Mrs.Williams and Ms.LaBrosse the amazing Hewes counseling team.

They started the year strong supporting our students and staff. This week, they planned, coordinated, and hosted parent-teacher conferences. We appreciate all of their hard work. THANK YOU for being so astounding!!!

The Hewes staff is recognizing HIGHLANDERS “H” FOR A DAY AWARD! Highlander for a Day is a program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments in the areas of Respect, Responsibility, and Results.

Please welcome Ms. Carbajal to our front office. She joined our team as our health clerk and is the face in the front office you can go to for help. She has be a substitute in our office over the past year and we are so excited to have her on our team. When you are in the front office, please welcome her to Hewes.

If you are interested in supporting Club Rush at Hewes, please consider buying supplies from the Amazon Wish List. Poster boards, decorations, and treats for the club rush tables are great to have, and providing students with supplies to market their club is appreciated. Students will have work time on Wednesday, October 2nd to prepare their displays and materials for Club Rush on Friday.

Sixth-grade families interested in the ELOP after-school program need to reach out to Nancy Roman at the YMCA. The best way to connect is to email her directly at nroman@ymcaoc.org. She will be able to provide information about eligibility and registration.
