Clark Weekly News (9/6/24)
Growing Together
A note from your Principal
It's hard to believe we are a month into the new school year. I guess time does fly when you're having fun... and learning! However, this is when the honeymoon phase begins to wear off, course demands get heavier, and other issues start to surface or re-surface. We want you to know that we are here and have resources to support you/ your student in whatever barriers to success may be popping up.
I also want to speak to the tragic loss of life at a Georgia high school this week as we collectively have broken hearts. I assure you, we will continue to do any and everything to keep everyone in the Clark family emotionally and physically safe. But, we need the same commitment from our students and families. Please remember that we never open any doors for others. All students and employees have ID badges that serve as keys. Report a lost ID badge to the front desk immediately. We also need to remember to see something, say something so swift action can be taken to investigate any safety concerns.
Please enjoy the weekend with friends and loved ones and know that your presence is important.
Dr. Judd

Weekly Tidbits- 9/2-9/6
Today is Make a Difference Monday- NO SCHOOL
Today is Take Care Tuesday. Did you know September has been designated as Suicide Prevention month? Today’s tip is for taking care of your mental health. Sometimes something as simple as taking a walk, going for a run, or dancing wildly to your favorite upbeat songs can change your mood for the better. Give it a try next time you are feeling a little down.
Today is Way to Go Wednesday and we want to shout outRobert Mull for volunteering to be the morning voice of Clark with the moment of silence and pledge. Thanks for being willing to step up to the plate for this early morning assignment!
Today is Think About it Thursday. Do you know what situational awareness is? Situational awareness is being aware of one’s surroundings and any potential hazards or threats. People who work on improving their situational awareness have heightened observation, become more aware, are better strategic thinkers, and are able to better take advantage of opportunities. There are four main characteristics of situational awareness: observation, orientation, decision, and action.
Observation involves constantly monitoring the people and actions taking place around you.
Orientation encourages you to think about what is around you and how you’re processing information based on your own experience. Knowing where you will ask for help?
The decision has you weigh all your options and look for what is the best possible outcome within your own capabilities.
Action is the last step and requires you to use all the previous information to protect yourself and be safe.
Today is Fact Friday! There are a lot of important events being recognized this month. Next week is Patriot Day on September 11 and the following week is constitution week. We will have two important guest speakers on Wednesday in honor of both of these important topics.
Older Info you may need to access
Communication- we rely heavily on email. Students will always receive Clark info to the Clark email address. Parents/ guardians- If you want a different email than the one this came to, email ljudd@irsc.edu and CC kfarias1@irsc.edu and we will try to get all systems updated. If someone in your life should be added, please also email us.
Bathroom reminder: We need to be careful what, and how much at once, we are flushing down the toilets. Please remember: No Paper towels, No garbage, No feminine hygiene products (at all).
If you need “a certain amount” of toilet paper, that is fine. But flush between use, so that the amount of toilet paper does not clog the plumbing. We have two significant clogs this week. Last year we had to close a stall for quite some time to fix the issue. We’d like to avoid that.
Clark shirts and hoodies still available! See attached form at end of newsletter or printed copies in the rack by the front desk. Don't miss out on these awesome dri-fit and cotton shirts and hoodies!
Bus info- If you no longer need/want a morning bus, please email swhelpley@irsc.edu
