Tehama Teacher Induction Program

We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with mentors and candidates across the North State. A unique feature of our program is that each mentor and candidate pair is assigned a coach who is trained to support them. The candidate, mentor, and coach meet as a team each semester to support the development of the candidate's Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). While the candidate is making growth toward their personalized learning goal, the mentor is also continuing to build their mentoring capacity. When teachers work closely together they see each other as valued team members in their school community and there is greater consistency across site and district.

What does the research say? "Mentors help prevent teacher attrition and improve job satisfaction—and there’s new evidence that they can boost student learning too (Terada, 2017)."

Governor Newsom signed SB 114 on July 10, 2023, which exempts preliminary credential holders who received a TPA deferral as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic from having to complete a TPA upon the completion of Commission-approved teacher induction program on or before June 30, 2025. The candidate will still need to complete any other renewal codes attached to their credentials.
