FS1 News & Home Learning

This term we have lots to learn, so we getting started by learning about water.

Its week four now and we are having so much fun.

Last week our main focus in FS1B was on the animals that live in water. We explored what swims in the ocean, and spoke about things we have seen and also have not seen before. We created our very own sea creatures.. So ask your child what they did in the day, I'm sure they'll have lots to say.

In FS1A the our focus last week was boats. The children made their own boats using junk modelling materials and made a prediction on whether they thought their boat would float or sink when they put it on the water. The children also made collage boats from different cut and stick materials. We also visited the park twice during the week which was another great opportunity for outdoor learning.

Last week in FS1B we focused on counting sticks up to 10. We also used our fingers. We also organised colours and shapes into their right groups and discussed how many sides each shape had.

In FS1A we focused on counting objects up to 10. We used cubes to help us count up to 10 and used our fingers.

This week, because we are going on a field trip, we will be looking at sea creatures we will see in an aquarium. We will also be reading "Commotion in the Ocean" and exploring the sea creatures introduced in the story. This story also introduces rhyming words.

In FS1A we will be focusing on water and why we need water to keep us healthy. The children will make their own water based drinks using different fruits, ice and water. We will look at what happens to our bodies when we get hot and why we need to drink water. We will also be visiting Sharjah Aquarium on Thursday 1 February to round up our unit on Water.

In this week we will introduce a lot of benefits about water such as drinking, watering plants, swimming and washing hands.we will introduce some sea creatures such as whales and dolphins. We will revise the learnt (أ:د)sounds and words related to each, our activity is to make aboat from chart paper and float them in water.

• Parents, water and sand play is MONDAY, for FS1B and TUESDAY for FS1A Please remember clothes.( this is depending on the weather)
• PE is on SUNDAY for FS1A and TUESDAY for FS1B, please make sure your child wears their PE Kit on their PE day.
• Please remember we are only using Alpha school bags
• PLEASE can I ask parents to label all school items. Clothing, hats, jerseys, bags...

FS1B and FS1C went to the park... and we had loads of fun...
