NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Christmas for Kids Event: This is your LAST opportunity to sign up your child for "The Journey to the Manger" Christmas for Kids event. It will be held this Saturday, December 7 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is for children ages 3 through those in 5th grade. We will have the Christmas story, games and activities, lunch, a community service project, and a movie. You can print the form further down in this newsletter or you can register online at www.trinityminocqua.org. Any questions can be directed to Kristen Smith or contact the school office.
Singing for Worship - Children's Chirstmas Service: The next time the students sing for worship will be on Sunday, December 15. This will be the Children's Christmas Service. All of the students will start learning their parts and songs this week. Please make plans to have your child here for this special worship service.
Church Attendance: Every week, church attendance will be taken in kindergarten through 8th grade. Its intent is to encourage an active worship life in our school families. Please make weekly worship the highlight of your week.
Sunday School and Bible Class: Each Sunday following our 9:00 am worship service (10:30 am). Sunday School is for students in preschool through 4th grade. Bible Class is for 5th-8th grade, high school students, and adults. All are welcome to attend!
Midweek Chapel: Each Wednesday (8:15 am) throughout the school year, Trinity conducts a midweek chapel service. We encourage and invite all of our preschool and K-8 parents and families to join the students for this 15-20 minute service each week. This year’s chapels will center around the theme “Connected to Christ”. Our chapel offerings will be given to the Military Services Committee. This committee provides face to face ministry to WELS military personnel serving in the United States and Europe. They also provide resources for those serving on ships or deployed somewhere else in the world. To date, we have collected $272.44 for this ministry.
Winter Weather Wear: Please make sure your student has the appropriate clothing to go outside for recess each day. Winter is here to stay so winter coats, boots, snowpants, hats, and mittens will be needed. Always plan for outside recess.
Winter Weather Closings: If the Lakeland School District closes for the day (or portion of a day) due to inclement weather, Trinity will also be closed. Check local TV (7, 9, 12) and radio stations, as well as Trinity’s Facebook page and website for closing information. If it seems as if a snow day could be called, please be sure to check these for verification.
Lost and Found: If your student misplaces an item during the school year, be sure to check the lost and found shelf outside the office.
School Absences: If your student will not be in school on a given day due to illness, please either call the school office to leave a message or contact your student’s teacher directly. Only parents can excuse an absence; siblings cannot. A Notice of Absence sheet (available in the school office or online) needs to be filled out when an absence is preplanned. It should be returned to your student’s teacher prior to the absence. Thanks for your cooperation!

Classroom Updates
Mr. Habben - Grades 6-8
Good morning Trinity, and welcome back from Thanksgiving break! Here's what's happening in our classroom this week.
Memory Work:
Tuesday: Page 4 from the recitation packet, the third all-school recitation that begins with "Fear Not". Thursday: 6-7 students will recite their first personal speaking part that appears first (by their name) in the recitation packet.
Friday: "Oh Come Little Children" verse 3.
Math: 6th grade will have their Chapter 5 Test this Friday (12/6). 7th grade will have a Mid-Chapter Quiz this Friday (12/6).
Literacy/Spelling: Students should have been reading their personal choice reading book over break. I will be issuing "progress report" sheets every Friday, where students will document how many pages/chapters they have read during the week, and summarize what they've read. The spelling list for this week is list #13. The final test will be on Friday.
Language Arts: The 6th grade will begin the unit review for unit 3 on Thursday of this week. This means their unit 3 test will be next Thursday (12/12).
Social Studies: The "We Didn't Start the Fire" project will be due next Tuesday (12/10). I will give students work time during class this week. Please remind your students to stay on top of this project!
Geography: We will have a Kahoot review day today (12/2) and the Chapter 3 Test will take place this Wednesday (12/4).
Other News/Notes: Parents, I plan on having a Christmas party in class on the morning of Friday, 12/20. We will be doing a "White Elephant" gift exchange that day, in addition to watching a (TBD) Christmas movie. To make this a fun event, I ask that you stick to a $20 price limit on your White Elephant gifts. Thank you!
Mrs. Wetterau - Grades 3-5
Memory Treasures:
The children will continue working on their Christmas Service parts here at school.
Spelling:
Section 1 - Unit 7 Week 2
Section 2 - Unit 11 Week 2
The final test will be Friday, December 6th.
Social Studies:
The Southeast states' map test will be Thursday, December 19th.
The students are allowed to wear their slippers in my classroom for this upcoming winter season. It's just an easy way for students to switch back and forth between boots and classroom shoes.
For Christmas this year, instead of classroom gifts, we will again be making a monetary donation to the Lakeland WINGS program. The WINGS Program is a community-based transition program designed to assist in the transition from a school to adult life. The goal is to teach students the skills needed to live as independently as possible once they leave high school. The students can bring their donations in from now until Wednesday, December 18th.
Mrs. Habben - Grades 3-8 Science & STEAM
3-5 Science will be having a test on lessons 1-3 on Wednesday, December 4th. Study guides should be going home with students this week. Please go through this study guide with your child to help them prepare for the test.
6-8 Science has a quiz on lesson 1, Dynamic Ecosystems, on Wednesday, December 4th.
The tie blankets made in our STEAM class have been donated to the Minocqua Fire Department, Woodruff Fire Department, Woodruff Police Department, Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, and Lakeland Pantry. We are still trying to learn addresses so if parents could help students learn their addresses that would be appreciated. We will be mailing letters next Monday.
Miss Schmidt - Grades K-2
God’s Time
Our theme this week: “The Lord fights the battle for his people and delivers them.” We will be hearing about the tenth plague and the Passover in lesson 2A. Then we learn how God led the people across the Red Sea in lesson 2B. Our memory work this week will be recitation passages. We have worked on them at school. Please review.
